Ruth and Naomi returned to Bethlehem just as the barley harvest was beginning. They couldn't see everything God was preparing, but the story was already turning.

Maybe you're in a season where you can't see the harvest yet. Maybe you're being asked to obey without knowing the outcome.

Keep trusting. Keep walking. God is not finished.

Sometimes saying yes to God doesn’t immediately bring clarity—it brings separation.

In Part 1 of The Making of a Calling, Ashley shares what it looks like when God begins loosening our grip on old identities, definitions of success, relationships, habits, or ways of doing things before we fully understand what He is leading us toward.

Separation isn’t always about leaving something behind. Sometimes God keeps you in the same place while changing your heart, your motives, and who governs your decisions.

As you listen, ask yourself:

• What is pulling my heart away from wholehearted devotion to Christ?
• What identity am I afraid to lose?
• Am I following God—or simply running from discomfort?
• What would faithfulness look like if no one applauded?
• What am I trying to force because I’m afraid to wait?

You may not know what God is building yet. Sometimes the first step in discovering your calling is being willing to release what can no longer define you.

Last week I told you the three chapters. This week I'm telling you the pattern underneath all of them — every time I had a choice between the unknown path God was leading me toward and the known path where I stayed in control, I chose control. Every time. For years.

Sit with these this week:
🔹 Where are you choosing the path you already know and control over the path God is actually leading you toward?
🔹 When God enlarges something in your life, do you ask Him to keep His hand on it — or do you quietly take it and run?
🔹 What would it look like to stay exactly where you are and let God change your heart's posture instead of changing your circumstances?
