Christ and Politics, Week 5

Day 3: Made on Purpose: Trusting How God Created You
Devotional
There is a simple, powerful truth in the opening chapter of Genesis. After God created humanity, male and female, He looked at everything He had made and called it very good.
Not just good enough. Very good.
God does not make mistakes. He made you on purpose. If you are a man, you did not choose that or construct it. If you are a woman, the same is true. God gave it to you. Receive it. Embrace it.
Our culture tells people that their feelings about who they are should override the reality of how they were made. That is backwards. Feelings are real, and they can be powerful, but they were never meant to be the final authority on identity. God is.
This is not harsh. It is freedom. You do not have to invent yourself or figure out who you are on your own. God already knows. He made you. He is Lord over your body and your identity. And what He made is good.
If you are wrestling with confusion about identity, or you love someone who is, do not hide it. Bring it to God. His design is not a burden. It is a gift, and He offers it with grace.
Bible Verse
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” — Genesis 1:27 (ESV)
Reflection Question
How does grounding your identity in how God made you, rather than in how you feel, change the way you approach your sense of self and purpose?
Quote
“How God made you is good. If you’re a man, that’s good. If you’re a woman, that’s good.”
Prayer
God, thank You for making me exactly as You intended. When my feelings argue with Your design, help me trust You over myself, and root my identity in You. Amen.
