Today is the last day of our “Heroes Who Waited” series – as we were going through the Book of Acts. This last hero should be known to most everyone if you're familiar with the Bible. His name is Paul, but

if someone only knows Paul from the letters in the New Testament, they might think he just showed up one day preaching and planting churches. But Paul’s story didn’t start in ministry. It started in opposition. Let me give you a little background.

Before he was Paul, he was Saul — a rising star in the religious world. Smart. Driven. Respected and feared. He was the guy enforcing the rules, protecting tradition, and shutting down anything that threatened it. And when the early Christians started spreading the message of Jesus, Saul saw them as dangerous. So he went after them.....and after them hard.

Then one day, on the road to Damascus, everything changed. He was struck by a blinding light. He heard a voice from heaven. He had a confrontation with Jesus Himself.

Saul goes from persecutor to believer in a single moment.

But here’s the part most people don’t know: Paul didn’t start preaching the next day. He didn’t launch a ministry the next week. He didn’t write Scripture the next month. Paul had to wait.

After his conversion, Paul spent years — not days, not weeks —but years in obscurity. Learning. Healing. Rebuilding his understanding of God. Letting Jesus reshape everything he thought he knew.

He wasn’t traveling. He wasn’t teaching. He wasn’t leading......He was waiting.

Waiting while God dismantled old beliefs. Waiting while God built new ones. Waiting while God prepared him for a calling bigger than he could imagine.

And here’s the truth that makes Paul the perfect finale for this series:

Paul’s waiting wasn’t punishment. It was preparation.

God wasn’t delaying Paul’s ministry — God was developing Paul’s character.

Because the man who would write half the New Testament… the man who would plant churches across continents… the man who would suffer, endure, and shape Christianity itself…needed time.

Time to grow. Time to understand grace. Time to become the kind of man God could trust with influence.

What we learn from Paul is that waiting isn’t just something we go through — it’s something God uses. Paul's waiting season made him wise. His waiting season made him humble. His waiting season made him strong enough to carry the weight of his calling.

And that’s the message for us today:

Don't we all want to be wise? Don't all of us want the ability to carry the weight of the things we are called to do? And don't we want to be handle our waiting season s better?

Some of the greatest things God will ever do in your life won’t happen after your waiting season… they’ll happen because of your waiting season.

Paul reminds us:

God doesn’t waste time. God doesn’t waste pain. God doesn’t waste preparation.

If you’re waiting right now — for clarity, direction, healing, purpose, or the next chapter — you’re not stuck. You’re being shaped. Just like Paul.

And when God finally says, “Now,” you’ll be ready in ways you couldn’t have been without the wait.

We're in our last 2 days of our “Heroes Who Waited” series – as we are finishing up in the Book of Acts and I wanted to talk to you about Simeon and Anna. Now, if you’ve never heard of Simeon and Anna, you’re in good company. Most folks sitting in their car or folding laundry have no idea who these two are. They’re tucked quietly into Luke 2 — same chapter as the Christmas story — but they’re not part of the manger scene, so they get skipped.

But their story is one of the most beautiful pictures of waiting in the entire Bible.

Let me give you a little background. Simeon was an older man living in Jerusalem. Scripture says he was righteous, devoted, and deeply connected to God. And at some point in his life, God made him a promise: He would not die until he had seen the Messiah.

Imagine carrying that promise in your mind day after day...year after year. Decade after decade. Walking into the Temple wondering, “Is today the day? Will I see Him today?”

That was Simeon’s life — a long, faithful wait.

Anna’s story is just as powerful. She was a prophetess. She had been widowed young — married for seven years, then alone for decades. But instead of becoming bitter or isolated, she devoted her life to worship. Scripture says she stayed at the Temple day and night, praying, fasting, and waiting for God to fulfill His promise to Israel. Two elderly believers. Two quiet lives. Two long waits.

And then one ordinary day, Mary and Joseph walk into the Temple carrying baby Jesus — just doing what Jewish parents did. Nothing flashy. Nothing dramatic.

But Simeon sees Him… and instantly knows. This is the One. This is the promise. This is the moment he’s been waiting his whole life for.

He takes Jesus in his arms and basically says, “Lord, You kept Your word. I can die in peace now.”

Anna sees Him too. And she doesn’t hesitate — she starts praising God and telling everyone around her that the Messiah has come.

So what make Simeon and Anna heroes?

They didn’t wait for relief. They didn’t wait for healing. They didn’t wait for a personal miracle.

They waited for Jesus Himself.

Their waiting wasn’t passive. It wasn’t frustrated. It wasn’t resentful.

It was devoted.

They kept showing up. They kept worshiping. They kept believing God’s promise even when it looked like nothing was happening.

And that’s the message for us today:

Friends, please hear me when I say this. Some waiting seasons aren’t about what God will give you. They’re about who God is shaping you to become while you wait.

Simeon and Anna remind us:

You’re never too old for God to fulfill a promise. You’re never forgotten. You’re never overlooked. And your faithfulness in the quiet years matters more than you think.

They waited their whole lives… and God made sure they didn’t miss the moment.

We're in the last 3 days of our “Heroes Who Waited” series – as we finishing up in the Book of Acts and I want to talk to you about Hannah. You can read about her in the Book of 1st Samuel specifically in the 1st and 2nd chapter. Now, if you’ve never heard of Hannah, you’re not alone. Most folks only know her because she’s the mother of Samuel — one of Israel’s greatest leaders — but her own story is powerful all by itself.

Hannah lived in a home as one of two wives — her husband loved her deeply, but she couldn’t have children. And in that culture, that wasn’t just a disappointment… it was a wound. A public wound. A wound people talked about. A wound people judged.

To make it worse, the other wife — the one who could have children — rubbed it in. Year after year. Little comments. Little digs. Little reminders that Hannah didn’t have what she desperately wanted.

So Hannah carried this quiet heartbreak. Not for a week. Not for a season. But for years.

And that’s where her heroism begins — in the waiting.

Hannah didn’t wait casually. She waited with longing. She waited with tears. She waited with prayers that felt like they were hitting the ceiling. She waited while other people got the blessing she was begging God for.

One day, she went to the Temple and poured her heart out so honestly that the priest thought she was drunk. That’s how raw she was. That’s how deep the pain went. That’s how long she had been waiting.

And here’s the part that makes Hannah a hero: She kept showing up.

She kept praying. She kept hoping. She kept trusting that God saw her — even when she didn’t feel seen.

Hannah teaches us something that every listener needs to hear:

Waiting doesn’t mean God is ignoring you. Waiting means God is preparing something bigger than you can see.

Her waiting wasn’t wasted. Her tears weren’t wasted. Her prayers weren’t wasted.

God eventually answered her — not with just a child, but with Samuel, a man who would become a prophet, a leader, and a voice for God in Israel.

But here’s the deeper truth: The miracle wasn’t the point........the waiting was.

Because in the waiting, Hannah learned to trust God with her deepest desire. In the waiting, she learned to surrender. In the waiting, she learned that God’s timing is better than her timing.

And that’s the message for us today.

Some of us are waiting for healing. Some for clarity. Some for a relationship to mend. Some for a door to open. Some for a prayer to finally be answered.

And like Hannah, it feels slow. It feels quiet. It feels unfair. It feels like everyone else is getting what you’re praying for.

But Hannah reminds us:

God sees you. God hears you. God remembers you. And God is working — even when you don’t see anything happening yet.

Hannah waited with longing… and God turned her longing into a legacy.

As we continue our final few days of our “Heroes Who Waited” series – while were finishing up in the Book of Acts I want to talk to you about Job. It's an Old Testament book.

His story begins with everything working. Life made sense. Family strong. Business thriving. Faith steady. The kind of season where you think, “Alright… this is how life is supposed to go.”

And then — without warning — everything collapses. Not slowly. Not over months. But in a single, brutal avalanche. Job loses his wealth. His security. His children. His health. His sense of stability. Even his sense of God’s nearness.

And after the shock comes the part we don’t talk about enough: Job had to wait.

He had to wait for answers that didn’t come quickly. He had to wait for relief that didn’t show up on schedule. He had to wait for God to speak — and God was silent for a long time. He had to wait for his friends to stop talking — because their words weren’t helping. He had to wait for his own heart to settle — because grief doesn’t run on a timer.

Job wasn’t just hurting. He was waiting in the dark. And that’s where his heroism shows up.

He didn’t pretend he was okay. He didn’t hide the pain. He didn’t give the “everything happens for a reason” speech. He didn’t try to rush the process.

Job sat in the ashes — and waited. He waited honestly. He waited painfully.

He waited with questions. He waited with tears. He waited with frustration. He waited with faith that was bruised but still breathing. And here’s the part that hits home for all of us:

Job didn’t wait perfectly. He waited faithfully. There’s a difference.

Perfect waiting never complains. Perfect waiting never questions. Perfect waiting never wrestles.

Faithful waiting says, “I don’t understand this… I don’t like this… I didn’t ask for this… but I’m not letting go of God while I’m in it.” Job teaches us that waiting isn’t weakness — it’s worship.

Waiting isn’t punishment — it’s preparation. Waiting isn’t God ignoring you — it’s God shaping you.

And when God finally speaks, Job realizes something: God had been present the whole time. Silent, yes. But not absent.

Job’s restoration didn’t come because he was strong. It came because he stayed.

That’s the quiet heroism of Job — the kind that doesn’t look impressive from the outside but shakes heaven from the inside.

Job reminds us: When life falls apart… When answers don’t come… When prayers feel like they’re bouncing off the ceiling…

When the night lasts longer than you thought it would…

You’re not failing. You’re not forgotten. You’re not alone.

You’re just in a waiting season — the same kind every hero of Scripture had to walk through before God opened the next chapter. And like Job… your story isn’t over. Not even close.

As we continue our “Heroes Who Waited” series — and as we prepare our hearts for Acts — I want to talk about Moses. Not the Moses who parted the Red Sea. Not the Moses who confronted Pharaoh. Not the Moses who led Israel out of Egypt.

I want to talk about the Moses who waited.

Because before Moses ever stepped into leadership… before he ever performed a miracle… before he ever spoke for God… he spent 40 years in a place nobody talks about.

Obscurity.

Moses went from the palace of Egypt to the quiet fields of Midian. No crowds. No spotlight. No influence. No platform. Just sheep… silence… and waiting.

And here’s the part we forget — Moses didn’t know he was waiting. He didn’t know God was preparing him. He didn’t know a calling was coming. He didn’t know he would ever lead anyone.

He was just living his life in a place that felt small.

But God was shaping him.

God was forming humility. God was forming patience. God was forming character. God was forming a shepherd’s heart — because before Moses could lead people, he had to learn how to lead sheep.

And this ties directly to Acts.

Acts is full of movement — preaching, miracles, mission, boldness — but every leader in Acts had a season where God shaped them quietly before He used them publicly.

Peter waited. John waited. Paul waited. The disciples waited in the upper room. The early church waited for the Spirit.

And Moses waited in Midian.

Some of you are in that same place. You’re not in a palace. You’re not in a spotlight. You’re not in a season of influence.

You’re in a quiet chapter. A hidden chapter. A chapter that feels small.

And maybe you’re wondering, “Does any of this matter?”

Let me speak this to you gently and directly:

God does some of His most important work in the places nobody sees. God shapes leaders in obscurity. God forms character in silence.

God prepares you privately for what He will ask you to do publicly.

Moses didn’t waste his waiting — and God didn’t waste Moses’ waiting.

And He won’t waste yours.

So today, as we prepare to step into Acts, remember this:

You don’t have to be seen to be shaped. You don’t have to be noticed to be prepared. You don’t have to be in a spotlight to be in God’s will.

God is forming something in you right now — even if it feels quiet, small, or hidden.

Just like He did with Moses.

Let’s keep choosing love today.

Episode 10 invites us to slow down and remember the God who never walks away. Through Paul’s words in Acts 20:24, we see a life shaped by purpose, steadiness, and the presence of a Savior who refuses to leave His people alone. This is a message for anyone who feels worn down, uncertain, or stretched thin — God is still with you, still guiding you, still calling you forward.
