Carroll John Daly was a writer of crime fiction. In the early 1929’s, he was one of the earliest writers of hard-boiled Private investigator fiction. He is best known for his detective character Race Williams, who appeared in a number of stories for Black Mask magazine in the 1920s. Stay tuned for some of Race’s story.

For over 40 years, the duo wrote dozens of Golden Age mystery novels, famously challenging readers to solve crimes using all the clues before the author's trademark "Challenge to the Reader."
