Relationships, Single Life and Everything in Between

What does it feel like to be in a long-term relationship, and what’s life like when you’re single?

In this episode, we share two different perspectives. Kirsty has been in a relationship for nearly 20 years, while Jess is divorced and single. We chat about how we feel about where we are, what being in a relationship brings to our lives, and the experience of being on our own.

An honest, personal conversation about relationships and single life, with all the different feelings that come with them.

💗 **ARE WE ACTUALLY OKAY? LET'S TALK MENTAL HEALTH!**

How often does someone ask you, "How are you?" and you automatically reply, "I'm fine!" even when you're really not?

In Episode 3, Kirsty and Jess are opening up the conversation around mental health, emotional wellbeing and the pressures of everyday life.

From overthinking absolutely EVERYTHING to feeling overwhelmed by life's responsibilities, we're talking about the things so many women experience but don't always speak about.

💗 Why do we feel like we have to hold everything together?

💗 Can you love your life and still struggle with your mental health?

💗 How much do relationships, motherhood and social media affect our wellbeing?

💗 Why is asking for help sometimes so difficult?

💗 And what can we do to start putting our own mental wellbeing first?

We're also exploring female friendships, self-worth, confidence and the importance of making time for yourself — because looking after your mental health shouldn't be something you only think about when you're struggling.

Expect honest conversations, plenty of relatable moments and, of course, a few laughs along the way! 😂

    ✨ OUR REMINDER TO YOU:

You don't have to have everything figured out. You don't have to be happy every single day. And you certainly don't have to pretend you're okay when you're not.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is start talking. 💗

Why is saying “No thanks, I don’t want to” so difficult?

Instead, we apparently need to create an elaborate backstory involving childcare issues, a poorly relative, an unexpected work commitment, a dodgy stomach and possibly a burst pipe… just so we don’t have to admit:

“I actually just want to stay home.” 😂

In Episode 2, Kirsty and Jess are talking PEOPLE PLEASING.

Why do we feel guilty for saying no? Why do we over-explain ourselves? Why are we terrified someone might be mildly disappointed in us? And why does a simple decline suddenly require a carefully constructed alibi with supporting evidence and three character witnesses?

We’re talking about the times we’ve said YES while every part of us was screaming NO, the ridiculous excuses we’ve made, worrying about what other people think and that lovely moment when you finally realise…

Other people being disappointed doesn’t automatically mean you’ve done something wrong.

Plus, we’ve got our usual Gratitude, Rant of the Week and Little Wins — including finding out whether we actually did what we promised we’d do after Episode 1. 👀

Expect oversharing, questionable advice, plenty of tangents and at least one moment where we realise we probably should have kept that story to ourselves.

🎙️ Can We Actually Talk About This?

Two women. No judgement. Probably too much information.

Before we start talking about sex toys, dating, relationships, confidence and all the other things we're probably going to regret discussing publicly… we thought you should probably know who we are. 😂

Meet Kirsty Davies & Jessica Johnson — two mums, two very different lives and apparently absolutely no problem sharing far too much information.

Kirsty is married with three kids. Jess has one child, is single and co-parenting — so between us, we've got plenty to say about marriage, single life, motherhood, relationships and trying to remember who you are underneath it all.

In our first episode, we're keeping it simple: who we are, how we know each other, why on earth we've decided to start a podcast together and what you can expect from Can We Actually Talk About This?

Expect laughs, tangents and probably more information than you actually asked for. 👀🎙️

Welcome to Episode 1. This could be a terrible idea… 😂
