Summary: Wouldn't you love to not to have to work anymore? I think for most people, we’d be glad to stop punching the clock at the workplace, counting the ledger to see how much in debt or how much in the bank we have and just be glad to stop working and relax. Well, how much more so in our spiritual life, how we would love to be done working and simply enjoy in resting in our faith, and the enjoyment of no longer the fatigue and exhaustion of working thinking there is something we have to do to be right with Him. In our passage today that's the very topic, rejoicing in resting and no more working. Join us.

Summary: Philippians 1:21 — “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Paul summarizes the Christian life in one powerful sentence. To live is Christ means Jesus is the purpose, center, and direction of our lives. As long as we live, we have the opportunity to know Christ, serve Him, and make Him known. To die is gain means death is not defeat for the believer. Death brings us into the presence of the One we have been living for. Paul’s message is simple: If I live, I live for Christ. If I die, I go to be with Christ. Either way, Christ is my gain.

Summary: Paul is rejoicing because the prison cell, nor the chains, could lock up the gospel; In fact, we’ll see the circumstance caused the gospel to go even further. And therefore, Paul rejoices. When Paul is writing this, he thinks he’s just writing a letter to a group of believers. He doesn’t know that he’s writing an epistle. But we, who now read it, know that we, according to the scriptures, are living epistles known and read by all men. And therefore, our lives speak the gospel! Summary: Our passage today declares one of the greatest promises of the Bible, and that is that what God started in you He will complete it! He formed the heavens and completed them. He formed the world and completed it. He formed you, saved you, and will complete what He started in you……. And He will do it, because He said so, and His Word never falls short (or incomplete).
