• Ready Obedience - Philemon v. 20-25
    2026/10/12

Knowing what God requires and actually living it out are often two very different things. As we conclude our study of Philemon, we're reminded that the gospel is meant to transform more than our understanding—it should change our hearts, desires, and actions.

In his final appeal, Paul challenges Philemon to respond to Onesimus with willing obedience rooted in love. Rather than simply meeting the minimum requirement, believers are called to reflect the generous love and grace of Christ in every area of life.

Yet this kind of obedience isn't accomplished through willpower alone. It requires continual dependence on God's grace, often experienced through the prayers, encouragement, and accountability of fellow believers.

Ultimately, the gospel doesn't just change what we believe. It changes how we live, how we love others, and who we become.

  • Radical Reconciliation - Philemon 17-19
    2026/10/04

What does faithfulness to Jesus require when a relationship has been broken by hurt, betrayal, or sin?

In this message from Philemon 17–19, we consider the difficult but necessary work of Christian reconciliation. Scripture does not call us simply to “forgive and forget,” nor does reconciliation mean pretending that wrongdoing never happened. Instead, biblical reconciliation begins with our shared identity in Christ, deals honestly with the wrong that has been done, recognizes that rebuilding trust can take time, and requires a willingness to bear the cost of pursuing peace.

Paul’s appeal for Philemon to receive Onesimus ultimately points us to a much greater reality: Christians pursue reconciliation because we ourselves have been reconciled to God. At the cross, Christ did not overlook our sin—He bore its cost.

Because Christ is our Reconciler, His grace changes the way we respond when relationships are broken.

  • Restorative Providence - Philemon v.15-16
    2026/09/27

Sometimes God is doing His deepest work in circumstances we never would have chosen.

In Philemon 15–16, Paul looks at the broken story of Onesimus and Philemon and sees something bigger taking place. What appeared to be loss, failure, conflict, and interruption was not outside the sovereign hand of God.

In this message, we consider three important truths: God’s sovereignty, His providence, and His concurrence—how God accomplishes His purposes through the real decisions and actions of people without ever becoming the author of sin.

Philemon reminds us that we can be certain God has a purpose even when we cannot see what that purpose is. The “for a while” seasons of life are being governed by a God who sees forever.

And when God restores, He often does more than simply put things back the way they were. He transforms what was broken into something new.

When you cannot see what God is doing, you can still trust who God is.

  • Redeeming Grace - Philemon v. 8-11
    2026/09/20

Can God’s grace really change a person?

In Philemon 8–17, we see the transforming power of redeeming grace through the story of Onesimus—a man who was once considered “useless,” but through Christ became useful, faithful, and changed. Paul’s appeal to Philemon shows that grace not only changes who we are; it changes how we respond to others.

This message challenges us to consider two questions: Where is God’s grace changing me, and how should the grace I have received shape the grace I give to others? Real grace makes us different people who treat people differently because of Christ.

  • The Kinds of People God Uses - Colossians 4:7-17
    2026/08/31

In the closing verses of Colossians, Paul introduces us to ordinary people whose lives show us the kinds of people God uses. This message challenges us to be dependable, transformed by grace, committed to prayer, willing to sacrifice, faithful with what God has given us, and determined to finish well.

The question is simple: Do you want to be used by God? Faithfulness begins by treasuring Christ above everything else and placing our lives, gifts, resources, and opportunities in His hands.
