  • Episode 5: Coffee Grounds || Apologetic Foundations: Truth
    2026/10/06

What is truth? Well, it's nothing but truth in our second episode in our Coffee Grounds || Apologetic Foundations series. In this episode, you will learn about the definition of both objective and subjective truth, and how–while both valid–they each have an important place in how we interpret reality. We will also discuss the hierarchy of truth, and where our opinions and preferences come in, and some of the pitfalls of flipping over the “two-story” building of reality. Lastly, we will touch on the logical implications of misplacing subjective truth, as well as where the flip-flop all began: Postmodernity. Join us for coffee and conversation, and learn that while creamer is a “beautiful” thing, we need to make sure we are adding a little coffee (and ground it in objective truth).

    In This Episode:

    • Community College and Evidence that Demands a Verdict
    • What is Truth?
    • Objective or Subjective: Coffee and creamer
    • Truth as a “two-story” building
    • “Creamer-only” Coffee People
    • How to “Put a rock in someone’s shoe” and a cup of coffee

  • Episode 4: Coffee Grounds: Apologetic Foundations--Worldview
    2026/08/27

Coffee Grounds | Apologetic Foundations: Worldview

In our first episode in the series, “Coffee Grounds: Apologetic Foundations,” we share the analogy that one “cannot learn algebra by looking at the answers in the back of the book” and how that applies to only giving answers to our young people without teaching them the thoughts and processes behind the answers to the big questions of our faith. Along with some analogies, we look over the statistics from the American Worldview Inventory conducted by Arizona Christian University with George Barna. Lastly, we examine our first topic of Worldview, by first reviewing the 4 questions all worldviews attempt to answer: Where did we come from, what is our problem, what is the solution, and how will things end for us? We end with an analysis of the metanarrative of scripture and how this forms the basis of the Christian Worldview: The best explanation of reality.

    In This Episode:

    • “Math and Apologetics”
    • Personal anecdotes and The American Worldview Inventory
    • What is a worldview?
    • The four questions all worldviews answer
    • The Christian Worldview
    • Why does this matter?

  • Episode 2: Brewing Knowledge Without Another Degree
    2026/07/28

Episode 2: Brewing Knowledge Without Another Degree

In this second episode, I share how I have been able to continue my education in apologetics by fitting it “in the cracks” of my life: the little moments in between my other commitments as a wife, mother, and teacher. We will discuss non-traditional ways (outside of getting another degree) to be further equipped, and give a few examples of where you can start on your own training–even if it's just “in the cracks.”

    In This Episode:

    • Benefits of starting with podcasts and books
    • Training through different ministries vs a program
    • Process of auditing classes and my experiences
    • Looking a certificates as a stand-alone or addition to a degree
    • Why we keep looking for ways to keep training (and to keep that coffee flowing)
