  • Is AI Actually Going to Replace You? | Telarus Partner Summit 2026 REVIEW
    2026/08/27

Is AI actually going to replace you? I walked the Telarus Partner Summit floor in Grapevine, Texas with one question - what BS is being sold as gospel to technology advisors right now? And the answer was on full display.

Because there are two kinds of advisors emerging in this channel... the AI-empowered advisor and the AI advisor. One of them wins. The other becomes indistinguishable from the tool they're hiding behind - and their customers can tell.

I also tried an AI voice clone on my own podcast once. Snowed in, no equipment, figured I'd let the machine do it. It went exactly how you'd think... and it taught me where the line is for every advisor using these tools.

Plus - why TSD events like the Telarus Partner Summit are quietly replacing the big Vegas trade shows, what 1,000-plus advisors under one roof actually gets you, and the "AI everything" narrative some vendors STILL won't let go of. Klarna walked it back. Microsoft walked it back. Your vendor should too.

If you're a tech advisor, a tech buyer, or anyone who's been told AI is the easy button... this one's for you. Subscribe so you don't miss the next callout.

  • Gartner UCaaS Magic Quadrant 2026 EXPLAINED (Cisco, Microsoft, RingCentral, Zoom)
    2026/08/05

Being named a Leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant does not give you a free pass. It doesn't mean your support stops sucking. It doesn't mean your pricing stays honest after the quote. And it definitely doesn't mean somebody picks up the phone when the system breaks.

This week, two stories prove it - the 2026 Gartner UCaaS Magic Quadrant, and NICE and RingCentral finally going bidirectional. Both look great in a press release. Both leave the same open questions for the people who actually live with these systems.

We go through the RingCentral review gap (4.2 on G2 versus 1.8 on Trustpilot), 596 BBB complaints in three years, Cisco's 5% cap on Webex Calling outage remedies, Microsoft's Copilot licensing add-on, Zoom's bundling problem at renewal, and Gartner's own twenty point walk-back on its 2028 calling forecast.

Then the partnership. NICE resells RingEX. RingCentral keeps selling CXone. Everybody gets the one pane of glass they asked for... until it breaks at 9PM on a Friday and the advisor is left holding the ticket.

Real support answers the phone and owns the problem. Fake support hides behind a leader badge and locks you into a long-term contract.

    Choose accordingly.

  • AI Costs More Than Your Employees | Uber Blew Its ENTIRE AI Budget in 4 Months
    2026/07/01

AI was sold to you as two promises: it replaces your people, and it saves you money. Both halves are falling apart at the same time - and this episode follows the receipts on both sides.

We start with the money. Uber burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in four months. Not because the tool failed... because it worked so well 5,000 engineers couldn't put it down. They even built leaderboards to gamify the spend. NVIDIA's own VP admitted compute now costs more than employees. A 2024 MIT study found AI is the cheaper option in only 23% of jobs. So why does every CEO keep insisting it saves money?

Then we flip the coin to the customer side, with the true story of a grieving man named Jake, an Air Canada chatbot that lied to him about bereavement fares, and an airline that argued in court its own bot was a "separate legal entity responsible for its own actions." (They lost.) The data explains exactly why that backfires: 88% of customers prefer a human, 77% find chatbots frustrating, and 70% will switch brands after a single bad AI experience.

This isn't an anti-AI rant. AI is real and it's useful. But there's a difference between a tool and a miracle - and the whole industry has been selling a miracle. The verdict: the future isn't AI replacing humans, it's humans who use AI out-working the ones who don't, on the dollars AND the experience.

You'll also get the 5 questions every advisor should ask and every buyer should demand before signing an AI deal - the filter that keeps you from becoming Uber's budget or Air Canada's lawsuit.

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

-Why "usage-based" AI pricing quietly torches budgets (the Slow Boil)
-The real economics behind AI vs. human labor - and who's cheaper
-Why customers are organizing against bad AI, from "clanker" to data center revolts
-Exactly where AI belongs (back office) and where it doesn't (the front door)
-5 questions to cut through any AI sales pitch

  • The AI Mistakes Quietly Destroying Small Businesses in 2026
    2026/05/28

There's an AI mistake quietly killing small businesses right now - and most owners don't find out until it's too late. Danny Reeves made it. 23 years running a print shop. Website, SEO, MSP, insurance, the whole compliance package. He did everything the experts told him to. And AI still made his business disappear in three Tuesdays. This is the mistake, why it's invisible, and exactly how to make sure you're not making it too.

Here's the mistake: treating AI like it's optional. Like it's a productivity toy you'll get to eventually. While you're ignoring it, your future customers stopped Googling and started asking ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini - and AI has no idea your business exists. That's only half of it. The other half will gut you.

This episode of CX Without the BS brings in two experts from completely different worlds. Dr. Tamara "Tami" Patzer breaks down AI suggestibility, the new gatekeeper economy, and identity collision - why AI can't find you, or worse, recommends someone else with your name. Keith Erwood breaks down business continuity and why cash flow, not the attack itself, is what actually kills small businesses.

Then comes the part that'll mess with your head: the AI mistake and the cyber attack aren't two problems. They're the same threat exploiting the same blind spot. The businesses going invisible to AI are the exact ones attackers hunt down. Brian Nichols connects it and lays out the five questions every owner, IT director, and advisor needs to answer THIS WEEK - before they're the next Danny.

CX Without the BS is the no-nonsense show for the people actually building, buying, and selling customer experience and unified communications in the real world. Subscribe for episodes that cut through vendor hype and tell you what's actually happening. Built for technology advisors, IT directors, SMB owners, and channel partners tired of the BS.

  • Channel Partners 2026 REVIEW | The Half-Empty Room And What It Told Me About The Channel
    2026/04/21

Brian Nichols reviews Channel Partners 2026 and reveals why the biggest technology channel event of the year felt half-empty - and what that means for Technology Advisors, vendors, and TSDs heading into the rest of the year. This Channel Partners Conference & Expo review covers everything from the Robert Irvine keynote at The Venetian in Las Vegas, to the quieter expo hall with 350+ vendors, to the honest feedback from advisors and PDMs who said the real value had already moved off-campus. Brian breaks down what worked, what didn't, and why TSD events like Telarus Partner Summit (1,800+ attendees) and AVANT Special Forces are now pulling advisors away from the flagship Vegas show. Plus the brutal trade show economics - 94% of B2B marketers can't convert event leads, and only 14% of Fortune 500 companies see real ROI on trade show spend.

We expose the reality of what Channel Partners 2026 actually delivered versus what it promised - and why the Old Guard "massive booth equals channel wins" model is quietly falling apart. You need to hear this honest blueprint for how Technology Advisors should pick their 2026 events, how vendors should be rethinking their $250,000 booth checks, and what every PDM should be fighting for internally if they want their partners to actually produce. This is the Channel Partners review you won't get from the sponsored recap posts.

  • Business Phone System NIGHTMARE: Why Vendors Are Killing Their Own Deals
    2026/03/25

Brian Nichols exposes why buying a business phone system in 2026 is nearly impossible and why UCaaS vendors are sabotaging their own sales process. With 49% of B2B buyers demanding transparent pricing and 61% preferring to purchase without ever talking to a sales rep, the unified communications industry is facing a customer experience crisis it created. Brian breaks down the broken buying journey — from hidden pricing and gated demos to a channel ecosystem drowning in middlemen — and reveals why the average B2B conversion rate sits at a dismal 1.8%.

This episode exposes the uncomfortable truth that UCaaS vendors are spending millions on AI tools and marketing automation to re-engage the exact same leads they drove away with their own buying process. Brian delivers a four-part prescription for fixing B2B customer experience — from pricing transparency to respecting the buyer's timeline — and explains why the companies that simply make it easy to buy are the ones that will dominate. If you've ever tried to purchase business technology and wanted to pull your hair out, you need to hear this.

  • How to Spot a Bad Phone Provider in Under 2 Minutes
    2026/02/20

Before you sign anything for phones, UCaaS, or contact center - you need to know this:

When it breaks, who actually picks up the phone?

In this CX Without the BS - Quick Hit, I walk through the fastest way to spot a “support problem” before you’re stuck in ticket hell, porting delays, and finger-pointing.

Here are the two questions to copy/paste into an email to every vendor you’re considering:

When I need help, who do I call - and how fast do I get a real human?

If my bill comes in higher than the quote, what fees do you add that aren’t in the per-user price?

If they answer clearly and directly - good sign.
If they dodge - you just saved yourself a multi-year headache.
