Hi there and thank you for tuning into my channel. My name is Marc Ginsburg and I am excited to welcome you to my first podcast of my TV hit show, Chrysalis - The Family Adventure(s). Many of you have already tuned into my prior iterations of this story on my YouTube channel, my Facebook page, or any number of the other sites I have previously shared my script on. To my young friends on TikTok, I deeply thank you for your support and the love you have shown my story. That tells me that I am reaching a large and important group of people at a critical and precious time in their lives who can relate to many of the trials and tribulations the members of my TV family, particularly the teen children, who feature large in my script, go through. For those of you for whom this is your first podcast or live stream, Chrysalis - The Family Adventure(s) is the familial story of becoming, breaking out, breaking free, breaking apart, of being broken and fnding your soul while healing. Hysterically funny, provocatively rude and heart-rendingly moving, this comedy, dramedy and coming-of-age story audaciously takes on every issue in the news that people everywhere are talking about, often vociferously, across the table.

    Hey there, it’s me, Marc. I really loved traveling virtually, which Google Maps and Pictures facilitated. Now, with this episode, we finally arrive at Giselle’s mom, Roseanne, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and an entirely new chapter in the life of our family. She says that while she’s glad Democrats are ahead, they can’t take anything for granted in view of the 2024 Republican last-minute ad blitz and tells Samantha Oklahoma is one of the best places to campaign. Giselle and Joey return. Joey wants her to rev up or switch drivers, but Samantha would rather wait for the rain to stop. Joey says either switch or get in gear, so she drives. He tells her to pull into the gas station. When they pull out, he tells her to rev up slowly so she won’t skid, but also doesn’t want her to go too slow and tells her to come on, it’s not a marathon. As she drives, they see a lot of signs for fireworks, which she keeps mentioning but Joey says no way to them. As they hit Santa Rosa, Samantha decides she’d prefer a nap so she gets off and they switch again, her and Joey. Finally, they hit the Texas state line, assuring them most of their journey is now behind them. They stop in Amarillo for a Texas steak and then Giselle drives them for the last, longer than expected haul to Stillwater where they arrive at God knows what time, Samantha out cold while Roseanne is there to greet them.FADE IN INT. (EXT.) THE CAR PARKED IN THE RAIN IN FRONT OF A SUBWAY, CLINES CORNERS, NM – DAY Samantha is relaxing in the driver’s seat, on her phone. SAMANTHAHey. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Hey, what’s going on? SAMANTHAI’m sitting in the car, waiting formy parents to finish their Subway. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Why? You’re not hungry? SAMANTHANo, I never went in. See, last night,we were so stuffed but they saw thisbarbecue ribs place so they had tostop there. I couldn’t eat anythingso I got something to go and just had it in the car. Plus it’s pouring here. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Oh really? It’s hot as hell here like a major heatwave. SAMANTHAWow, really? Yeah, it’s like that here too when the sun comes out. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Where are you? SAMANTHAClines Corners, New Mexico. When thesun's out, it’s real hot. When itrains, it sucks but it’s a relief.The trick for the heat is to go faster. I don’t feel comfortablegoing as fast as my dad but I lovedriving. When he drives, he really chugs it. There is a pause in the conversation. SAMANTHAYou doing more of that reading? Itwas interesting. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)You won’t believe this but I’m kickingback with a movie. SAMANTHAOh, I can’t believe that. That doesn’tsound like you. Didn’t you say you were gonna do that campaigning? KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Yeah, I’ll probably pick it up laterin the afternoon. But I’m not as worried about it as before. The signsseem to be pointing to a Democraticvictory this year. But don’t worry,I won’t take anything for granted. I remember that last minute ad blitzthey pulled in 2024. You could do it too. SAMANTHAI don’t know. I don’t know if I’llhave any space there. We’re moving in with our grandmother. Mom saysher house is smaller than ours was.So with dad there, you know what that means. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Well, listen, what I heard was Democrats are moving their effortsinto very red states because the polling shows people are reallyupset with the rising prices. Youmay be in the best place to campaign.You just gotta find where the Democratic field offices are thereand you go out and knock on doors. SAMANTHAReally? KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Yeah. That way, you don’t have to worry about your dad stopping you. SAMANTHAListen, Kamala, I don’t mean to upsetyou but I’m a nervous wreck. KAMALA (v.o.)(filtered)Well don’t be a nervous wreck. Campaign. It’ll help you meet people. SAMANTHAAlright, let me see what it’s likewhen I get there. Mom is really beingstrict that I can’t do nothing until I study. KAMALAWell, that’s good too. You shouldstudy. You just gotta not be intimidatedby it. Decide you’ll be a champ. Maybe being in a new place is theperfect opportunity to change becauseyou can approach it as a fresh start.     A Barbeque rib place puts Giselle in the mood for ribs, so they stop there and the Texas flavor can be felt in Joey’s ordering a brisket while Giselle gets the prime rib. Samantha is too stuffed so she gets a “moist brisket” to go for later. Samantha is anxious that she’ll miss a chance to get her phone. So she drives them crazy, while their eating and relishing the food drives her crazy, but they make it to an AT&T store on time and while she may not get a top of the line replacement for her phone, it still is a newer model than the one she lost. Then, after driving out of Albuquerque and on the road a while, they get on to finding a motel. The first place is sold out because it’s the only place in town for miles but the young lady at the desk tells them there are a whole bunch down the road in Moriarty, which is in the direction they’re going. Sure enough, they find a Motel 6 right at the exit. Samantha texts Amanda in the middle of the night while her parents are sleeping. It’s clear she just wants to text her but has little to say. She shares her anxiety about the unknown place they’re going to. Amanda says not to get ahead of herself and suggests putting on a movie to help her fall asleep.

    The next morning, Samantha drives and they’re off again. After driving a while, set off by a sign that says “Fill up your food tank”, they can’t find any eating places so they get back on the highway. A while later, they see a Subway sign and this time it’s reliable. Rain starts coming down a few miles before the exit and her parents assure her as she panics, telling her to go easy on the brake. She’s able to get them off the road and to the Subway. The parents make a run for it while Samantha stays back and has her brisket. Dr. Morfield calls at just that moment, another stroke of luck for Samantha, who can now open up to him being alone. He assures her saying coming through this fire situation is a big thing and she held up well so as long as she nurtures that independent, strong self, she’ll be okay.

Thanks,Marc We finally jump back in space to Santa Ana to see how some of our characters who didn’t make the road trip are faring. Amanda is visiting Josh and you can feel their joint sadness without Samantha so they decide to make a call and the three Stivics are pleasantly surprised to hear from Josh through Amanda’s auspices. An awkward moment for Josh ensues when Joey says “I’ll bet you wish you hadn’t done all that hacking now,” and the subject of how Josh and Amanda had met comes up, which Josh obviously wants no one in his family to find out. When Samantha begs to change the topic, she gives him the save he desperately needs. It turns out that he gets asked what he’s doing and he gives them the same details about his days in which all are the same that was the case before they left Santa Ana but the guard breaks up Amanda’s visit before he has a chance to ask them about their trip. This is Samantha’s chance to call Kamala back. All this happens while the Stivics are making their way across New Mexico, Joey having driven in the morning rain, Samantha in the sunnier and hotter afternoon, but all their eating stops, including a Dairy Queen to cool off, might have delayed them and they only make it to Albuquerque, about halfway through the state by about 4PM. FADE IN INT. THE JAIL VISITING AREA – DAY Amanda is sitting across from Josh. They are communicating silently with looks of knowing something is up, something has changed. JOSH I think we are just sitting and not saying anything because we miss Samantha. AMANDAYeah, you’re right. Your sister’sgot that power that you really feel when she’s gone. JOSHHey, let’s call her. It’s a big paintrying to get a phone call aroundhere. With you here, you could justdial and we’ll be connected. AMANDAI tried calling her by calling hermom the other day. She said she wasdriving so couldn’t be disturbed. Ithink our girl’s obsessed with driving. JOSHYeah, that does sound like her. Whenshe’s into something, she’s really into it. When she’s not into something,she can’t be bothered. She’ll be like,“Yeah...so?” Amanda laughs. AMANDALet me try calling her again. You think we’ll be able to get a call in before the guard breaks us up? JOSHHey, that’s right. Well, if he breaksus up, then we’ll just try againtomorrow. AMANDAWhat if she’s driving? JOSHWell, she can’t drive forever. Besides,she could pull over. Amanda dials a number on her phone. INT./EXT. THE CAR ON I-40 EAST AFTER THOREAU – DAY Light rain is coming down. Thunder can be heard. Joey is driving, Giselle in shotgun, Samantha in the back. Giselle’s phone RINGS. GISELLE(to Samantha)You expecting any calls? SAMANTHAOh my God, all those people! GISELLEHello...
