Twenty-nine new CASA volunteers took the oath on September 1st, completing 30 hours of training and touring the courthouse before being honored by Judge Shawna Schwarz — now ready to champion kids in Santa Clara County’s foster care system. The group includes diverse advocates: three Spanish speakers, five men, and three LGBTQ+ volunteers, reflecting Child Advocates of Silicon Valley’s mission to build a more inclusive volunteer base. Meanwhile, Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action — a student-led climate powerhouse with 150+ youth members — earned a 2026 Nonprofit Impact Award for empowering young leaders through education and action, set to be celebrated at the “Be Our Guest!” gala on October 22nd.
