  • Passive Aggression: A Difficulty to Self-Soothe or Self-Advocate
    2024/09/10

In today’s episode of the Butterfly Season Podcast, Aisha dives deep into understanding passive-aggressive behavior and how it stems from an inability to self-soothe or advocate for oneself. She shares personal stories and insights from her own journey, emphasizing how we often engage in others' coping mechanisms instead of addressing our own.

Aisha introduces a concept she calls "scratching someone else's itch" — where we take on emotional burdens that aren’t ours to fix. She explores how we can reclaim our energy, self-advocate, and foster healthier relationships by setting boundaries and practicing self-soothing.

  • Understanding Grief’s Role In Your Cocoon Season
    2024/07/10

An unfiltered stream-of-consciousness episode on the role grief plays in your cocoon season, and how on your way to transformation, you move through the full cycle of grief before that transformation is fully embodied.

These feelings form the bridge between cocoon season and butterfly season: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The undoing required before stepping into the next version of you can look like:

    • Being in denial about the type of change that needs to happen
    • Feeling angry that you have to be the one to fix mistakes others made
    • Trying to negotiate a quicker, less painful way through cocoon season
    • Feeling so depressed about what has transpired that you lack motivation to do what’s required to change
    • Finally, accepting that this is your reality and that the only person who can save you is you

It is after acceptance that true change can occur.

    2024/06/18

Have you ever struggled to find your true path or faced fears while trying to show up in your own unique way? Join me as I chat with Alexis Andra, founder of Shift Creative were we discuss how self-sabotage and learning to accept compliments gracefully played a role in her journey. Inspired by the insights from "The Big Leap," Alexis exemplifies the courage it takes to follow your passion. Our conversation digs into what it means to truly excel and how this is different from just using your natural talents.

Alexis also shares a personal story about how a childhood burn accident steered her from counseling to the arts. We explore how deep-seated personal trauma can fuel creativity and how accepting our scars, both seen and unseen, can bring about significant healing and personal growth. Her story isn't just about being tough; it's an invitation for everyone to discover and raise their own voices.

We discuss the challenges of codependency in relationships and underscore the importance of personal growth for maintaining healthy relationships. As you listen, think about the importance of letting go of old ideas about ourselves and defining success in your own way. If this conversation speaks to you, please share it with someone who might also find encouragement or insight from our discussion.
