• There is Culture, and There is Community
    2026/10/21

This is a replay of episode 96!!!!

***** Please leave us a 5-star review or comment on your favorite podcast platform! *****

We, as a people, have always been a close-knit community, regardless of what some may say. As a culture, we are innovators, needle-pushers, and trendsetters. Yet we do not always benefit fully from the outstanding contributions we have made to society as a whole. Bringing those realities back into closer alignment is paramount to our survival and our ability to thrive moving forward.

We launched the Watch4TheHook Apparel Brand because we wanted to give something meaningful back to our culture. We saw a need for positive, message-based apparel that our people could proudly wear. Too often, negative messaging becomes a trend or fad within our culture—but we are not a negative-minded people. We cannot be as revolutionary as we are and still carry a negative spirit.

We love the sense of community that the Watch4TheHook Business & Entrepreneur Podcast offers our listeners. We started this podcast as a way to give back to our community of small business owners. Our goal is to uplift those who have stepped out on faith and bet on themselves in pursuit of the greatness they seek in life.

  • Understanding the Golden Opportunity Infront of You
    2026/10/07

    *****Subscribe Now*****

Having $300k+ in equity means you own a $300,000 piece of your home's value outright, calculated as current market value minus remaining mortgage/liens.

    What $300kin Equity Actually is:

    • Ownership stake: Financial jargon for the portion of the house you physically "own" versus the bank.
    • Not Free Cash: It is trapped wealth tied up in a physical, non-liquid asset. You don't $300K sitting in a checking account.
    • Subject to Friction Costs: If you sell, you lose -5% to -6% in relator/closing fees, plus moving/tax costs, reducing actual net cash.

Tune into this episode to see what options this homeowner has and how to play the game to help change her financial standing for the better.

  • We Didn't Make the Black Box We are Placed N

***** We are so thankful for our dedicated listeners. Please become one of them and subscribe to our podcast today*****

Black-owned businesses do not lose customers because being Black-owned lowers their value; they lose customers because racism, stereotypes, unequal opportunity, and social discomfort still shape how some people choose where to spend their money. For many African American entrepreneurs, identifying as Black-owned is not just a label—it is a statement of survival, pride, and resilience in a marketplace that has not always welcomed them equally.

Black-owned businesses need returning customers like any other business, but they may face inconsistent support from both inside and outside the community, especially when larger competitors offer convenience, lower prices, or more visibility.

Some people react negatively when a business proudly identifies as Black-owned because they view racial identity as “political,” even though other businesses commonly market around family ownership, women ownership, veteran ownership, or local ownership.

Black-owned businesses have often had less access to capital, prime locations, supplier networks, and marketing resources. Those barriers can affect visibility, pricing, inventory, and growth—things customers may notice without understanding the larger context.

Tune into this episode to see how we are placed into the box we did not create per say...
