Welcome to a new episode of Share Your Truth Live. It’s been a year since our last conversation focused on building safe spaces and centering survivor voices. This time, we’re launching Domestic Violence Awareness Month by diving into the critical topic of domestic violence restraining orders (DVROs): how to file for one, what legal protections they provide, and the real-life barriers survivors face when seeking help.
Joining your host, Janelle Lammatao, are two special guests: Hannah Hollander, founder and executive director of Speak Your Truth Today, and Drew Levine, attorney and principal at Levine Labor Law. Together, they share their professional insights and personal experiences on what constitutes abuse, common misconceptions about domestic violence, and practical steps for navigating the legal process. They also tackle the fears many survivors have when reaching out for legal help and share resources for support, all while highlighting the importance of education and community connection throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Whether you’re a survivor, advocate, or someone eager to learn, this episode offers valuable information, encouragement, and ways to support yourself or others in the journey toward safety and empowerment.
