Eight minutes of gold didn’t get recorded, Marcus bailed, and somehow that sets the tone perfectly: we’re talking about Elden Ring again, and the real difficulty isn’t just bosses. I restarted from the very beginning on PS5 with the Tarnished Edition updates in mind, rolled a new character, and promptly lost 90 minutes to two hours in character creation trying to nail a look that feels like “my” long-running avatar across games.

That spirals into the surprisingly emotional side of gaming identity. Why does it sting when someone says your carefully crafted Tarnished looks like a kid? Why does a familiar aesthetic feel like built-in friendship, like you’re traveling with a character you already trust? We get into avatar psychology, self-insert vs companion vibes, and how console play in the living room changes the social energy compared to a more solitary PC setup.

Then we get practical: Margit, Stormveil, dying a lot, laughing anyway, and rebuilding muscle memory for sword and shield while still craving magic.
