🏙️ TORONTO — IS OLIVIA CHOW ACTUALLY IN TROUBLE?
Some polls suggest a close contest.
John’s data tells a different story.
He sees Olivia Chow with a significant advantage, particularly in Toronto’s core and among voters focused on affordability.
We discuss Brad Bradford’s challenge, why dissatisfaction with City Hall hasn’t necessarily translated into a desire to replace Chow, and whether endorsements, candidate withdrawals or a late shift in turnout could still change the race.
The fascinating question:
Do voters need to love an incumbent—or is being “okay” sometimes enough to win?
🏙️ MISSISSAUGA — TOO CLOSE TO CALL
Here, John’s assessment is very different.
He sees a genuine three-way contest between Carolyn Parrish, Bonnie Crombie and Alvin Tedjo.
Parrish and Crombie each have committed constituencies, but John says Tedjo has gained significant ground and could benefit from presenting himself as a more moderate alternative in an increasingly polarized campaign.
With undecided voters still potentially decisive:
Who turns out? Where do the undecideds go? And could the tone of the campaign determine the next mayor of Mississauga?
🇨🇦 AND BEYOND THE GTA…
John and I also look west.
We discuss Alberta and separatist sentiment, where he expects most voters to reject separation, and the rapidly evolving political situation in British Columbia.
Different cities. Different provinces.
But the same fundamental question:
What are voters actually trying to tell their political leaders?
