概要

A bonus visit for Day of the Dead. You'll learn to say "how lovely!", order the holiday's special bread, and find out what Día de Muertos really is — and why it isn't a spooky holiday at all.

The café is full of orange flowers and candles. Lucía has built a little altar in the corner for her grandmother, there's warm bread in the oven, and Mateo almost mixes up his favorite little word again — but this time, he catches it himself. Then Lucía surprises him with a sugar skull. Sin prisa.

☕ Today's phrases

  • ¡Qué bonito! — How lovely! / How pretty!
  • Quisiera un pan de muerto, por favor. — I'd like a bread of the dead, please.
  • una calavera — a skull (a sugar skull is una calavera de azúcar)

Just to recognize: ¿Qué es eso? (what's that?), una ofrenda (an offering — a home altar), para mi abuela (for my grandmother), mira (look), tiene tu nombre (it has your name), el cempasúchil (the marigold), and what kids in Mexico say instead of "trick or treat": ¿Me da mi calaverita?

Bringing back from Episodes 1–5: ¿cómo estás?, muy bien, gracias, ¿qué quieres comer?, quisiera, and un / una.

🎯 Your tarea this weekend

Every time something catches your eye — a costume, a sunset, a pumpkin on a porch — say "¡Qué bonito!" out loud. And if there's someone you miss, take a moment to remember something they loved.

Why it works: one small phrase, attached to things you're already noticing, sticks far better than a list.

¡Feliz Día de Muertos! Nos vemos en el café.
