  • S5E1: Cry It Out: Joys and Struggles of New Parenthood Kicks off the Season
    2026/09/01

    Send us Fan Mail

Resident Artists Amy Rene Byrne and Kimie Muroya are joined by Guest Actor Billy Martel to discuss BTE’s 49th season opener, Cry It Out by Molly Smith Metzler.

This dramedy is about “three different mothers, one shared struggle” among four new parents balancing newborns, work, identity, and relationships. They describe their roles: Kimie plays Jesse, a former Manhattan corporate lawyer considering staying home; Amy plays Lina, a working-class hospital admin who must return to work and lives in her boyfriend’s mother’s house; Billy plays Mitchell, Adrienne’s well-intentioned husband trying to build community through a “coffee clutch.” Filled with laughter and tears (from adults and babies), Cry It Out runs Sept. 10th–20th, tours Sept. 24th–Oct. 3rd.

Please excuse the technical difficulties we experienced with this recording. While it is still easily understood, it is not the usual smooth aural experience we like to bring you, our faithful listeners.

Transcripts of all Season 2-5episodes are available on our Buzzsprout website.
