NEW MONTH GUYS, WE ARE BACK WITH A NEW EPISODE ‼️

Excited and blessed once again to be providing you guys with another episode of the Black Men Vent Too Podcast. Episodes released in the month of September are near and dear to us, as we pay tribute to this month being recognized nationwide as “Suicide Awareness Month.” BMVT honors those who struggle with this, because we understand no matter your race or ethnicity, it is an active thing that people are dealing with day to day. And it’s platforms like ours that will continue to highlight these conversations, in an effort to change the stigmas associated with it.

With that said … let’s get into today’s great episode!

We’re excited guys to be bringing a very underrated, faith driven, and soft spoken young man who surely has a resume that speaks louder than he does. Coming from a family of over 80+ years combined in Pastoring dating back to his grandfather, it’s safe to say this brother knows a thing or two about scripture. Myself and my dad are beyond excited to finally have the Pastor of our home church, THE St. James Missionary Baptist Church … none other than Pastor Dr. George T. Brooks, Jr. ⭐️

You guys that follow us week to week know our platform has provided a wide arrangement of guests and backgrounds because we don’t shy away from position titles or specific demographics. We understanding that Pastors deal with mental health issues too, and it’s too often that we expect them to be perfect.

In today’s episode, Pastor Brooks, Jr. vents about how there is a lack of concern for church work in today’s world. Church as a whole overtime has been the conversation that divides social groups and communities, when it should be the conversation that brings us together. He vents about how in church, you’ll have plenty of members, but only a few are dedicated to genuine kingdom building. He also vents about Pastoring and the frustrations that people don’t see. One of them being, as a proud father, Pastor Brooks, Jr. shared that he didn’t appreciate when he goes to speak at churches and the Pastor of said church speaks out about his children and the way they look. Not knowing that the way they dress, or how their attire is, was birthed through sacrifice and hardships. Social media has also given a controversial eye to what Pastors lives look like, versus how they really are behind closed doors. It’s a lot to unpack from this one, but one you don’t want to miss. As we’ve said, BMVT believes that if we can bring one black man to our platform to share his story, it will help another black man be more confident in telling theirs. Today’s guest needs no introduction because if you’ve been to any cookout, gathering, wedding reception, birthday party, or any event that makes you want to move your feet … then again, this brother you know and you know well. We are presenting to some and introducing to others, 8-Time Platinum Recording Artist 💿 and Louisiana native, our brother Cupid ⭐️ The Line Dance King! 👑

It truly is a blessing to be able to sit down with such an icon in the industry. For years, Cupid has put out timeless music that can definitely set the tone at any event or any gathering. We sit down with Cupid to talk about his journey and mentally how he’s been able to steer through his toughest moments in his career. He talks about his up-and-coming documentary to be released at the top of 2027, and mentions to us that in that documentary he talks about his near death experience(s), his time in life dealing with a stroke, and more. A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, a husband, and a father, Cupid is still traveling the world and giving us great music. On our podcast today, he vents about the unrealistic expectations that are placed not only on black men, but all men, and how daily we are pushed, and often times pressed to meet those expectations. He states,
