  • #49 Bits & Pieces | Past Mistakes, Positive Future
    2022/07/20

Little things that I remember from the past, but the past is not what we're gonna talk about today. We're gonna talk about the future because you let your past determine your future. Your future's not gonna be as bright. Why? I can almost guarantee that because I don't care how successful you may have been. I don't care how successful you are. I know that everybody has got something in their past. They would prefer that it just stays in the past. So let's go ahead and clear out the past, you know, but I will tell you a couple things, you know, how you have that thing, that intuition, you have a premonition, you seem to sense something gonna happen or you, you know, everybody says, oh man, you're really intelligent because you knew in advance not to do that. Well, that's the past speaking that's experience speaking. Sometimes it's common sense, but most times, most times it's really experience. So let's talk about the past for a tiny bit, and I'm gonna spin the past into a real positive thing. No matter how bad your past may have been, how much it may have affected everything to where you are today, I can show you a couple things. Do you have anything that's positive in your life today? I want you to focus on that for a second.

  • #47 Bits & Pieces | Maybe Tomorrow
    2022/03/30

    Maybe Tomorrow

Do you always put things off thinking that tomorrow will be better? Or are you just wishing today away hoping that tomorrow will be better. Well that was me this last week and the reason I couldn't do my show last week. Sorry about that. An unexpected hospital visit made me wish for tomorrow!

Listen in and I'll share "most" of my experiences but one thing for sure Nurses always earn my respect. I'm a pretty easy patient even when I'm feeling horrible but they handled everything with ease and a friendly smile. Well I could see their eyes smiling at least!

Join me and remember....you'll never catch tomorrow so make today mean something!

  • #46 Bits & Pieces | Out of Fish Out of Here
    2022/03/23

    Out of Fish....Out of Here!

My Dad was a character for sure. I'm more like him than I ever thought I would be and for that I feel blessed. This show marks the first anniversary of his passing at the young age of 88 ...just weeks shy of his 89th Birthday. I sure do miss him.

    5 Stages of Grief

    • Denial

The first stage in this theory, denial helps us minimize the overwhelming pain of loss.

    • Anger

It is common to experience anger after the loss of a loved one.

    • Bargaining

When coping with loss, it isn't unusual to feel so desperate that you are willing to do almost anything to alleviate or minimize the pain.

    • Depression

During our experience of processing grief, there comes a time when our imaginations calm down and we slowly start to look at the reality of our present situation.

    • Acceptance

When we come to a place of acceptance, it is not that we no longer feel the pain of loss. However, we are no longer resisting the reality of our situation, and we are not struggling to make it something different.

Don't worry because my Dad felt humor was the fruit of life and the stories I'll share will reflect that. I believe in a positive uplifting message cause that's my Dad's way!

Thank you for allowing me to finally experience the healthy part of grief.

  • #45 Bits & Pieces | Ghost Me Toast Me
    2022/03/09

Ghost Me Toast Me - The Business Edition

Receiving or doing the ghosting is by no means limited to long-term personal relationships. Friendships, even work relationships may end with a form of ghosting. For the person who does the ghosting, simply walking away is a quick and easy way out. But is it?

No drama, no hysterics, no questions asked, no need to provide answers or justify any of the behavior, no need to deal with someone else’s feelings. Just cut and run. But the damage goes deeper than you'd imagine so hopefully you'll rethink either doing or how to minimize the receiving part.

  • #44 Bits & Pieces | You They We
    2022/03/02

    You They We

It's not that confusing and in Dave's show today he tackles it in his way how being independent can challenge your dependency!

So here's four ways to be more independent:

Make decisions alone. So often we crowdsource decisions that we could easily make on our own.

    Get to know yourself better

Focus on things you admire about yourself

Learn to give yourself emotional support

Plan to think a bit differently after hearing this episode as Dave goes over his own stories and also plays a tribute to the singer "Nightbirde" from America's Got Talent who just passed away after battling cancer. She had the most positive attitude when she could have been bitter and angry. May she rest in peace.

  • #43 Bits & Pieces | Big Easy
    2022/02/16

    The Big Easy

Flying with masks wasn't that fun but the rest of the trip was a blast. Even when the Uber driver warned us to be careful on Bourbon Street and that Mardi Gras was starting too. And he said no flashy watches.

Nice quiet first night with some great Jazz from the Brass-a-holics, gumbo and some cocktails sure started things right!

Coffee and Beignets for breakfast with enough powdered sugar to cover a mountain or two. Then off to the Cigar Factory for some hand rolled cigars in prep for a few days of jazz.

    Fun facts:

    • The first Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans was held in the 1800s
    • Masks are mandatory on New Orleans Mardi Gras floats
    • Hurricane Katrina was the US' costliest natural disaster
    • A haunted mansion sits in the French Quarter
    • New Orleans features many above ground tombs
    • New Orleans was the Louisiana state capital before Baton Rouge
    • 25% of the United States' fish species live in the Mississippi River
    • New Orleans was the largest Confederate city during the Civil War
    • City Park was originally used for dueling
    • Located in New Orleans, City Park is one of the largest parks in the nation and was once a popular spot for Creole men to meet and duel.
    • Bourbon Street isn't named after the  alcohol
    • Dental floss was invented in New Orleans

  • #42 Bits & Pieces | May the Focus be with YOU
    2022/02/09

Focus. May the "Focus" be with you!

Your brain is a miracle machine but even so can only produce one or two thoughts in your conscious mind at one time. We do best being single minded!

The average young person now believes they able to juggle six or seven things at one time but when neuroscientists studied this, they found that when people believe they are doing several things at once, they

are actually only "juggling. They’re switching back and forth. They don't notice the switching because their brain sort of papers it over to give a seamless experience.but it degrades your attention and thinking by a startling amount.

Being distracted and not being single focused means each interruption takes about 23 minutes to get back on track! It's no wonder we don't feel productive.

Come see how Covid has affected you in ways you've never imagined.
