How do you get a small group actually sharing their faith? What we do is a not so secret society with a little sword pledge pin, a bucket of fame and a bucket of shame. Is Genesis 5 just a list of names? The list is making a point. I trace the two family lines that come out of Genesis 3:15. In Seth's line people begin to call on the name of the Lord, and Enoch, the seventh from Adam, walks with God. In Cain's line Lamech, also the seventh, brags that he'll be avenged seventy-seven times. Then I look at Exodus 20:5 and 6 and what it means for your family today. It only takes one person to turn a family line toward the Lord.

Why does the Old Testament Law still matter if we're saved by grace? Paul says the Law is our tutor to lead us to Christ. Why did God accept Abel's offering and not Cain's? A lot of people say it's because Abel brought a blood sacrifice. I don't think that has anything to do with it. God looks at the heart.
