  • The Mystery of Marduk: Is Babylon's Chief God a Biblical Picture of Satan? - Episode 289
    2026/06/29

Who was Marduk, and why does this ancient Babylonian god appear in the pages of Scripture?

In this episode, Scott and John examine the biblical references to Merodach, the chief god of Babylon, and compare them with historical records surrounding Marduk's rise to prominence. They explore whether this ancient deity represents more than a pagan idol, revealing striking parallels between Marduk, Lucifer's desire for exaltation, King Nebuchadnezzar, and the future Antichrist.

From Jeremiah and Daniel to Isaiah, 2 Thessalonians, and Revelation, this study follows a biblical pattern of counterfeit worship that has repeated throughout history and will ultimately culminate during the Tribulation. While history provides helpful context, Scripture remains the foundation for understanding these prophetic connections.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    • Who Marduk (Merodach) was in ancient Babylon.
    • Why Nebuchadnezzar elevated Marduk above Babylon's other gods.
    • The biblical connection between Baal, Bel, and Merodach.
    • How Lucifer's ambition in Isaiah 14 parallels Marduk's rise.
    • Why Babylon's false worship became Israel's downfall.
    • The significance of the temple vessels being taken into Babylon.
    • How Daniel's prophecy of the Antichrist reflects Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom.
    • Why Revelation's Beast and Dragon mirror the Babylonian pattern.
    • What these biblical patterns reveal about deception in the last days.
    Key Scriptures
    • Jeremiah 50:1–2
    • Isaiah 39:1–8
    • Daniel 1:1–2
    • Judges 2:11–13

  • The Rapture and the Lost: What the Bible Really Says
    2026/06/28
Can a Christian lose salvation? Will believers who have drifted from the Lord be left behind at the Rapture? What happens to children if the Rapture occurs? These questions weigh heavily on many believers, and Scripture provides answers that bring both assurance and hope. In this Bible study, Scott Mitchell examines what the Bible teaches about the security of the believer, the Rapture of the Church, and God's mercy toward children. Looking carefully at passages such as 1 Thessalonians 4, Galatians 2, Ephesians 2 and 4, Matthew 18, and 2 Corinthians 4, Scott explains why salvation rests entirely upon the finished work of Jesus Christ—not human performance. The lesson also addresses the difference between Israel's national salvation program and the gospel of the grace of God revealed through the Apostle Paul, helping believers rightly divide passages that are often misunderstood. Finally, Scott discusses what Scripture does—and does not—say about children, the age of accountability, and why Christians can trust God's perfect justice and mercy. Whether you've struggled with doubts about your own salvation or have concerns for loved ones who seem far from the Lord, this study points back to the confidence found in Christ alone. Scriptures Covered 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18Galatians 2:16Ephesians 2:8–10Hebrews 13:5Ephesians 4:30Matthew 24:13–141 Peter 1:7–91 Thessalonians 1:101 Kings 11:1–6Matthew 18:6–142 Corinthians 4:3–4Numbers 14:27–29Jeremiah 22:3Luke 18:15–17Romans 10:13 In This Study What the Rapture is and why it is the believer's blessed hopeCan a Christian lose salvation?Does backsliding affect the Rapture? Why believers are sealed by the Holy SpiritIsrael's program versus the Church under graceWhat happened to Solomon? What the Bible teaches about children and God's care for themThe age of accountabilityWhy the gospel of grace is the only basis for salvation today If this message encourages you, please share it with someone who needs the assurance found in God's Word. Above all, make certain your trust is in Jesus Christ alone and His finished work on the cross. • The Controversy of Zion Part 2: Is Edom Claiming Israel's Birthright? - Episode 288
    2026/06/22
In Part 2 of The Controversy of Zion, Scott Mitchell and John Potts continue their examination of Edom, Esau, and the ongoing struggle surrounding God's inheritance. The prophets repeatedly pronounce judgment against Edom, but why does this ancient nation receive such extraordinary attention in Scripture? Could the biblical controversy surrounding Zion involve more than a historical conflict between Jacob and Esau? Are the prophecies concerning Edom connected to the "synagogue of Satan" mentioned in Revelation? And is there a deeper prophetic mystery behind the battle over the land promised to Israel? Join us as we examine passages from Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Malachi, and Revelation to consider whether Edom serves as a prophetic type pointing to future events that will ultimately be resolved at the return of Jesus Christ. In This Episode Why God repeatedly pronounces judgment against EdomThe connection between Esau, Edom, and Israel's birthrightEdom's claim to God's land in Ezekiel 36The "synagogue of Satan" in Revelation 2 and 3Jesus Christ returning from Edom in Isaiah 63The significance of Bozrah, Teman, and Idumea in prophecyJeremiah's prophecy concerning Edom's destructionEdom as a possible prophetic type in the last daysThe distinction between God's people and political systemsThe future restoration of Israel at the return of ChristWhy believers should test every claim through Scripture Key Scriptures Genesis 25:29-34Ezekiel 25:12-14Ezekiel 36:5Isaiah 34:9-10Isaiah 63:1-4Jeremiah 49:7-22Amos 1:6-12Malachi 1:2-5Zechariah 12:10Revelation 2:9Revelation 3:9Revelation 19:11-16 Questions Explored Why does God express such strong judgment against Edom?Is Edom's conflict with Israel larger than a historical dispute?Who are those that "say they are Jews, and are not" in Revelation? Why does Isaiah depict Christ returning from Edom?Could Edom represent a prophetic pattern that extends into the last days? What does Scripture reveal about the true heirs of God's promises? How should Christians evaluate modern events in light of biblical prophecy? Takeaway The controversy of Zion ultimately points to a greater spiritual battle over inheritance, identity, and God's covenant promises. While many prophetic details remain unresolved until Christ returns, Scripture repeatedly warns believers to guard against deception, search the Scriptures diligently, and keep their eyes fixed on the coming King. • The Mystery of the Soul: Can Satan Control Your Mind?
    2026/06/21

We've all heard the expression, "He sold his soul to the devil." Popular culture is filled with stories of people trading their souls for fame, fortune, power, or influence. But what does the Bible actually say about the soul? Can Satan possess it? Can he control it?

In this message, we examine the biblical distinction between the spirit, soul, and body and uncover what Scripture reveals about the soul's connection to the mind, heart, and will. From Genesis to the writings of Paul, the Bible presents the soul as the seat of our thoughts, desires, and self-awareness.

While Satan cannot take ownership of what belongs to God, he actively seeks to blind minds, darken understanding, and lead people away from the truth through deception. The spiritual battle is often fought in the realm of thoughts, imaginations, and beliefs.

    Join Scott as he explores:

    • What the Bible means by "soul"
    • The difference between spirit, soul, and body
    • Why the mind is central to spiritual warfare
    • How Satan blinds and deceives the unbelieving world
    • The connection between the heart, mind, and soul
    • How believers can bring every thought into captivity to Christ
    • The biblical answer to whether Satan can control the soul
The battle for the soul is ultimately a battle for the mind. Scripture provides the tools believers need to resist deception, renew their thinking, and walk in the peace and power of God's Spirit. Key Scriptures:
    • Genesis 2:7
    • Luke 21:19
    • Matthew 10:28
    • Matthew 11:28-29
    • Romans 1:20-32
    • 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
    • 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
    • Ephesians 4:17-24
    • Philippians 4:4-9
    • James 4:7-10
    • 1 Thessalonians 5:23
As our redemption draws nearer, the question remains: Who is shaping your thoughts—the Spirit of God or the influences of this present world? Read the companion blog: Can Satan Possess Your Soul? • The Controversy of Zion Part 1: Edom, Esau, and the Hidden Battle for God's Inheritance - Episode 286
    2026/06/08
Why does Isaiah connect the future Day of the Lord with a mysterious "controversy of Zion"? Why does God single out Edom, also called Idumea, for judgment when addressing all the nations of the earth? In this episode, Scott and John begin a detailed examination of the ancient conflict between Jacob and Esau and its prophetic significance. Tracing the story from the womb of Rebekah to the end-time prophecies of Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Malachi, they investigate why Edom occupies such a unique place in Scripture. The discussion explores Esau's rejection of the birthright, the long-standing hostility between Edom and Israel, and God's repeated declarations of judgment against the descendants of Esau. Along the way, Scott examines the biblical meaning of the "controversy of Zion" and raises thought-provoking questions about the identity of Edom in prophecy and its possible connection to future events surrounding Jerusalem. This is Part 1 of a two-part study that lays the foundation for understanding one of the most controversial and misunderstood subjects in Bible prophecy: Edom’s deep secret and opposition to God. • John's Question to Jesus: The Mystery John the Baptist Could Not See
    2026/06/07
Why would John the Baptist—who leaped in his mother's womb at the presence of Christ, baptized Jesus, and proclaimed Him as the Lamb of God—later send disciples to ask, "Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" The answer reveals a mystery John could not see, a truth hidden in God's plan concerning Israel, the kingdom, and the dispensation of grace. At first glance, the question seems impossible to reconcile with everything John knew. Yet Scripture reveals that John's question was not born from unbelief, but from incomplete revelation. John understood the prophecies concerning Messiah, the kingdom, and the coming judgment. What he did not know was the mystery hidden in God concerning Israel's rejection, temporary blindness, and the pause in the prophetic program. In this study, we examine the prophecies of Isaiah and Malachi, John's role as the messenger sent before Christ, the significance of Elijah, and why Jesus answered John's question the way He did. We also consider how Israel's rejection of both the messenger and the Messiah opened the door for the dispensation of grace revealed through the Apostle Paul. In this message: Why John the Baptist asked Jesus if He was the ChristThe connection between John the Baptist and ElijahHow John's imprisonment affected his understanding of prophecyThe significance of Jesus' answer to John's disciplesWhat the prophets understood about the kingdomThe mystery hidden from John and the TwelveIsrael's rejection of the messenger and the MessiahThe beginning of sorrows and the curse upon the earthThe distinction between the gospel of the kingdom and the gospel of the grace of GodWhy understanding Romans 11 is essential to understanding God's prophetic planThe future role of Moses and Elijah as the two witnesses Key Scriptures: Matthew 11:1-15Matthew 3:1-17Matthew 14:1-12Matthew 16:24-28Matthew 17:1-13Luke 1:5-45Acts 1:6-8Malachi 3:1Malachi 4:5-6Isaiah 40:3-5Revelation 6:1-11Revelation 11:3-7Romans 11 The prophetic program has not failed. God's promises to Israel remain certain. What John could not see was the mystery that would unfold between Christ's first coming and His return.
