Before Christ you were a slave to sin, no need to surrender, obeying sin was natural and easy. After belief, it's very similar. If it was natural and easy to obey God there would be no need for the command to surrender to Him.

If you have the Holy Spirit of God, in other words you are a believer since all believers get the Spirit, then you are a temple where God dwells. Unlike the Old Testament period, God's Spirit will never leave you, even when you grieve the Spirit through sin; even when that sin is severe and ongoing.
