• YNWA & YNWA – Let’s Talk About Six…Baby: Laughter, Rivalry, History and Heart
    2026/09/01

Some theatre performances entertain you. Others reach somewhere deeper, leaving an audience sharing emotions that are difficult to put into words.

YNWA (2017)– & YNWA Let’s Talk About Six Baby (2022) was one of those performances for me.

Packed with laughter, warmth, history and heart, and plenty of Liverpool humour, this was far more than a celebration of football. It brought the audience together through stories of triumph, heartbreak, rivalry and the characters who have helped shape Liverpool’s footballing history.

And perhaps one of the most special things was the camaraderie between Liverpool and Everton supporters. Rivalries were still very much alive, but underneath the banter was something bigger: a shared understanding of what football, family, friendship and the city itself can mean.

There were moments of huge laughter, moments of nostalgia that evoked memories in many.

That is what great live theatre can do. It can take history, turn it into something personal, and create a shared experience between strangers sitting together in an audience.

YNWA & YNWA Let’s Talk About Six Baby was a powerful reminder that some stories belong not just to a football club, but to the people and the city who have lived them.

If it returns to the stage, it is definitely one to watch.

Such a memorable theatre performance that will stay with myself and many more.

  • The Show That Literally Cleaned Up!
    2026/08/30

I nearly wrote this show off before I’d even seen it… and THAT would have been a mistake! 😂

Dirty Dusting is a brilliant reminder that expectations can sometimes get in the way of a good night out. Sometimes you simply have to sit back, watch the show and let it surprise you!

🎭 Never dismiss a performance before you've experienced it.

(Possibly best suited to a GEN X - and Menopause the Musical Lovers would love this)

Have you have ever loved a performance you expected not to enjoy?👇

  • When the audience stole the spotlight!
    2026/08/29

What happens when the audience becomes almost as memorable as the performance?

At The Rocky Horror Show, the answer was quite spectacular. Saucy outfits, stockings, sequins, heels and dramatic gothic make-up filled the theatre — and that was just the men!

The result was an audience that seemed to have stepped straight onto their own red carpet, bringing personality, confidence, humour and plenty of theatrical flair to the evening.

The performance itself was funny, vibrant and gloriously outrageous — although, as with The Rocky Horror Show, it certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea.

But on this particular occasion, it was the audience experience that stayed with me.

Because live entertainment isn't only about what happens on stage. It's also about the people sitting around you, the atmosphere they create and the memories you take home afterwards.

In this episode of Beyond the Spotlight UK, we look beyond the cast and explore why an audience can sometimes become part of the performance itself.

🎭 Beyond the Spotlight UK explores theatre, musical theatre, live entertainment, performing arts, celebrity and actor interviews, audience experiences and the stories surrounding the spotlight.

  • Is it worth the ticket price?
    2026/08/27

Are theatre tickets becoming too expensive — and is the experience still worth the price?

In this episode of Beyond the Spotlight UK, we look at the real cost of a night at the theatre and ask the question many theatregoers are already asking: is a theatre ticket actually worth the money?

From West End musicals and live entertainment to premium seats, cheaper tickets and the overall audience experience, we explore what you are really paying for — the performance, the cast, the music, the production, the atmosphere and the memory you take home afterwards.

Does paying more guarantee a better experience? Are cheaper theatre seats still worth booking? Does where you sit really matter? And when ticket prices can reach £100, £200 or more, when does a great night out start to feel too expensive?

Whether you love musical theatre, live performance, West End shows, concerts or entertainment, this is a conversation about ticket prices, value for money and what makes a live experience worth paying for.

What do you think — is theatre still worth the ticket price?

  • The Night I Discovered a Story I Didn't Know I Wanted to Hear
    2026/08/25

I went into that room thinking I was going to spend an hour listening to an interesting man. Yet I came away having discovered an even bigger story behind John Sweeney — investigative journalist and bestselling author — and the lengths he went to uncover the truth, before reporting on what he found.

This is what I love about live entertainment: you never truly know exactly what you're going to get.

This was a fascinating hour-long interview that I would book again in a heartbeat. An interesting Q&A opportunity afterwards too!
