  • S2 Episode 5 — Good Debt, Bad Debt
    2026/08/27

Last episode I called credit cards, instalment plans and personal loans the enemy in your wallet. This episode I need to correct something — debt itself is not the enemy.

Some debt, used correctly, at the right time, for the right thing, is one of the most powerful financial tools available to you. The problem is that the line between the two is not obvious. And most people are asking the wrong question entirely. "Can I afford the monthly payment?" is the wrong question. There is a better one, borrowed from one of the most successful investors alive, and once you have it every debt decision you ever make becomes clearer.

    In this episode I cover:

    • The single question that separates productive debt from unproductive debt
    • Why a mortgage does something rent never does — and why that principle can still fail in practice
    • Student loans, and why "education is an investment" is too simple. The three things that have to line up before that debt makes sense
    • The grey zone — cars, laptops, tools of a trade. When borrowing passes the test, and when you are just very good at convincing yourself it does
    • The order that actually matters: what to clear first, what to build next, and when good debt earns its place
    • What to do if you are already out of sequence, because most people are

Debt is a tool. What matters is whether you are using it, or it is using you.

  • S2 Episode 4 — The Enemy in Your Wallet
    2026/08/13

It does not arrive looking like an enemy. It arrives looking like a solution. The credit card with the congratulations message. The pay in three instalments button at checkout. The personal loan that turns an impossible price into a manageable monthly number.

None of these feel dangerous in the moment. That is exactly the point.

In this episode I show you what these tools actually cost in real numbers. A $2,000 credit card balance at 20% interest, paid on minimum payments, takes nine and a half years to clear and costs nearly $1,900 in interest alone — almost the original amount, again, just in interest. I walk through how credit cards, buy now pay later, and personal loans really work, the five rules for using them without letting them use you, and what to do if you are already stuck.

Because some of you are not wondering how to avoid the trap. You are already in it. This episode covers that too — debt consolidation, balance transfers, direct negotiation with your lender, and when more radical options are the right call.

  • S2 Episode 3 — The Emergency Fund
    2026/07/30

You have been doing everything right. You know your numbers. You have started investing. The engine is running.

Then something happens. The car. The job. The medical bill. The boiler. It does not matter which one — they all lead to the same place. You need money now, and you do not have it sitting anywhere.

So you sell your investments. You stop your contributions. You put it on the credit card. And just like that, the engine stops.

The emergency fund exists for one reason: to make sure that when life happens — and it will — your financial engine keeps running. In this episode I cover what it is, what it is not, how much you actually need, where to keep it, and how to build it as fast as possible.

Three to six months of essential expenses. Separate. Accessible. Liquid. Built before you invest a single euro in anything else.

Investing without an emergency fund is building on sand. This is the layer that makes everything else possible.

The next episode covers the enemy in your wallet — credit cards, buy now pay later, and car loans. The tools designed to feel like help and cost you far more than they ever give back.
