• 134 | Beyond the Bark: Puppies, Prevention & Adult Dogs {Series Part 2}
    2025/09/11

    Hey Dog Lover! 🐶
Welcome to Part Two of the Beyond the Bark Series! In this episode, we’re tackling the questions about puppies and adult dogs when it comes to barking.

As part of my contribution to a recent article on barking, I was asked:

    • With puppies, what can we do to prevent barking at things like the doorbell, the garbage truck, or people passing by?

    • What about adult dogs? Is it too late to train them out of barking?

    Here’s what we’re unpacking today:

    • Why the real key for puppies isn’t “stopping barking” but socialization and exposure

    • Why it’s absolutely not too late for adult dogs — yes, they can learn new tricks!

    • My go-to tip for helping your dog stop alert barking in real life situations

This episode will give you practical steps for both puppies and adults so you can respond with clarity and confidence.

    xoxo,

    Tracy 💛

  • 133 | Beyond the Bark: Why Dogs Bark {Series Part 1}
    2025/09/08

    Hey Dog Lover! 🐶
Welcome to Part One of my brand-new Beyond the Bark Series! This is the first of three episodes where we’re digging deep into one of the most common (and often misunderstood) dog behaviors: barking.

Fun fact: I was recently asked to contribute to an article on barking (how interesting, right?), and in this episode I’m sharing some of the answers I gave to the journalist’s questions.

    Here’s what we’re covering today:

    • The main reasons dogs bark — and the most common triggers

    • The difference between alert barking, demand barking, and separation barking

    • Why barking isn’t always “bad” — it can also come from fear, play, or even curiosity

    • Whether barking is natural or a learned response (hello, nature vs. nurture!)

    • And yes… whether some dogs are simply more prone to barking based on their genetic makeup

This episode will help you stop seeing barking as “noise” and start seeing it as communication.

    Hope you enjoy!

    xoxo,

    Tracy 💛

  • 132 | NO! Isn't the Enemy.
    2025/09/04

    Hey Dog Lover! 🐾
Ever feel a little weird about saying “no” to your dog?
Like you’re doing something wrong or “un-positive”? 😬

In this episode, we’re unpacking the myth that “no” is a bad word in dog training.
We’ll explore why clarity isn’t cruel, why disagreement doesn’t mean disconnection, and how using both yes and no helps build trust, confidence, and a real relationship with your dog.

If you’ve ever stood there, frozen, wondering what to do next—or if you’ve been stuck in the all-or-nothing world of dog training lingo (looking at you, “aversive”)—this episode is for you.

It's not about perfection. It's about understanding.
It’s about seeing the world through your dog’s eyes and becoming someone worth following.
Because “no” isn’t the enemy—confusion is.

    Hope you enjoy this one.
    xoxo

  • 131 | Your Dog Feels it Too: Barking Anxiety & the Emotional Side of Dog Behaviour
    2025/09/01

    Hey Dog Lover,

Have you noticed your dog barking more lately? Acting out in ways that seem “out of the blue”? Maybe every time someone walks in—or out—the door, your dog launches into full-blown emotional mayhem. 😅

Here’s the truth: your dog feels it too.

Whether it’s back-to-school chaos, a kid leaving for college, grief, stress, or just a shift in your household energy—dogs don’t miss a beat. And what we often label as “bad behavior” is actually a cry for stability, connection, and leadership.

    In this episode, we unpack:

    • Why transitions affect your dog more than you think

    • How emotional energy (yep, yours) shows up as reactivity, anxiety, and barking

    • Why this isn’t a training issue—and what to do instead

    • The real meaning of trust-based leadership when you’re the one feeling unsteady

If you’ve ever found yourself saying “my dog is driving me bananas right now,” but deep down know they’re just trying to keep up with your changing world—this one’s for you.

    Hope you enjoy this one,
    —Tracy

  • 130 | Dog struggle with guests? Help Your Dog Build Bravery (Not Just "Tolerate Visitors")
    2025/08/28

    Hey Dog Lover 🐾
If your dog struggles when guests come over—whether it’s barking, hiding, or pacing—this episode is for you. Inspired by Jenee from the Living Beyond Obedience community, we’re digging into the Build Your Brave Protocol: Guest Edition so you can create a space where your dog feels safe and even starts to build confidence with each visit.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Setting up a comfort zone before guests arrive

    • Responding based on your dog’s personality and needs

    • Prepping your guests so they’re part of the solution

    • Reading early signs of discomfort before things escalate

    • Knowing what “success” actually looks like for a fearful dog in guest situations

You’ll walk away with a step-by-step plan to help your dog move from just surviving visits… to feeling a little braver each time.

hope you enjoy this one! Tracy.

  • 129 | Why Quick Fixes Don’t Stick (and What Does)
    2025/08/25

    Hey Dog Lover 🐾

We’ve all tried it—a new harness, a head halter, or that “miracle” tip from a midnight scroll. Sometimes, these quick fixes help… and that’s okay. But they’re not the full answer.

    In this episode, we’ll explore:

    • How quick fixes can give you the breathing room to start real change

    • Why true progress comes from calm, consistent leadership—not just tools

    • The danger of staying “loud” in your communication with your dog

    • How to keep building connection and trust after the quick fix moment has passed

Your biggest takeaway? Quick fixes can open the door, but relationship and leadership are what build the house.

    Hope you enjoy this one!

  • 128 | "But I Have Tried EVERYTHING!"- When Everything is the Problem
    2025/08/21

    Hey Dog Lover 🐾
Ever found yourself saying, “I’ve tried everything and nothing is working…”?

If your head is spinning and your dog still seems confused, you’re not broken—and neither is your dog.
You’re just stuck in the noise.

This episode is about why trying everything might actually be the thing holding you back… and how doing less can finally bring the calm and clarity you’ve both been craving.

    Inside this episode:
🐾 Why system-hopping creates noise, not progress
🐾 How conflicting techniques confuse your dog (and rattle your own confidence)
🐾 What happens when we rush to do instead of slowing down to see
🐾 Why quiet observation is your most underrated leadership tool
🐾 A gentle practice to shift from chaos to connection—starting today

Spoiler alert: You don’t need to try more.
    You need to see more.

Because real transformation isn’t about mastering a hundred training tools…
It’s about becoming someone your dog can count on—even when you’re doing nothing at all.

Hope you enjoy this episode. Be sure to rate, share and leave a comment!

    2025/08/18

    Hey Dog Lover 🐾
Have you ever felt like you’re just not the “leader type”?
Maybe you’re not loud enough. Not confident enough. Not “trainer-y” enough.

    Here’s the tail-wagging truth:
You don’t need to be loud. You don’t need to be dominant.
You just need to be clear. Calm. Trustworthy.

In this episode, we’re redefining leadership—not as something you do, but something you be.
Because your dog isn’t looking for perfection... they’re looking for someone who won’t crumble when things get messy.

    Inside this episode:
🐾 Why “loud” doesn’t equal “leader” (and what actually builds trust)
🐾 What calm, quiet confidence really looks like—plus stories of Wellington and Nigel
🐾 How to use The Leadership Score Card™ to guide—not control—your dog
🐾 Why quiet, observant people often make the best leaders
🐾 And how to stop second-guessing and start showing up with grounded clarity

Your dog doesn’t need a boss. They need a guide.
This is your invitation to step into that role—with steadiness, not shouting.
