Then, out of the mist and the marsh, Grendel comes. The doors are forced open. One warrior dies. And Beowulf’s hands close on the monster that has terrorized the hall for twelve winters.

    Beowulf and his fourteen companions land on Danish soil, but armed strangers do not simply walk into Hrothgar’s kingdom. A watchful coast guard demands their names and purpose. After proving they have come as allies, the Geats make their way to Heorot, where Wulfgar carries Beowulf’s name to the king and an old debt between Hrothgar and Beowulf’s father comes back into the story.
