Jacob had spent years speaking of the God of Abraham and Isaac. But beside the Jabbok, inherited faith became personal.

Alone in the darkness, Jacob wrestled with God until striving became clinging. He left wounded, blessed, and renamed. The man known by his past became Israel; the name his descendants would carry.

Through every mile, God had patiently protected, provided for, corrected, and accompanied Jacob. Now, beside an altar in Canaan, Jacob could finally declare: He is not only the God of those who came before me.

He is my God.

God promised Jacob, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.”

In Genesis 29–30, that promise is tested through Laban’s deception, fourteen years of labor, family rivalry, painful waiting, and imperfect decisions. Yet through it all, Jacob’s family and possessions grow—demonstrating that human turmoil cannot overturn the faithfulness of God.

A famine settles over the land, but the LORD tells Isaac to remain—and blesses him in the very place where the ground has failed.

In Genesis 26–28, wells are buried and reopened, brothers become bitter rivals, and a father’s blessing is taken through deception. Jacob flees from home carrying the consequences of his choices, then lies down alone beneath the night sky with a stone near his head.

There, on a road shaped by human failure, the LORD meets him.

God does not excuse the family’s fear, favoritism, or deceit. Yet their sin cannot overturn His promise or make Him unfaithful. The God who remained with Isaac in the famine is already waiting for Jacob in the wilderness.

Abraham is old, Sarah is gone, and Isaac remains unmarried. How will God’s promise continue into another generation?

In Genesis 24–25, Abraham sends his trusted servant on a long journey to find a wife for Isaac. Beside a distant well, the servant prays—and before he has finished, Rebekah appears. Years later, Isaac and Rebekah face another long season of waiting before twin sons, Jacob and Esau, are born.

A servant travels. Rebekah chooses to go. Abraham dies. Isaac prays. Two brothers struggle—and a precious birthright is traded for a single meal.

Through every mile, every passing year, and every human failure, the living God remains faithful. He goes before His people, hears their prayers, and keeps His word from generation to generation.

The child God promised is born. Another son is sent into the wilderness. An oath reaches toward generations yet unseen. And Abraham is asked to surrender the son he loves.

In Genesis 21–23, Abraham encounters the God who hears, the Eternal God who remains, and the LORD who provides. Through birth and death, abundance and emptiness, celebration and sacrifice, one truth stands unchanged: when God says, “I will,” He most certainly will.

“Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

As Abraham intercedes for Sodom, that question hangs over everything that follows. Angels enter a city consumed by wickedness. Lot and his family are pulled from destruction. Abraham’s fear places Sarah in danger once again—and God intervenes.

In Genesis 18:16–20:18, we behold the justice of God: He hears the afflicted, judges rightly, shows mercy, restrains evil, and remains faithful even when His people fail.

Genesis 17:1-18:15

Nearly twenty-five years have passed since God first called Abram. The promised child has not come, and every natural possibility has disappeared.

Then God appears with a name Abram has never heard before: God Almighty.

In Unbelievable!, we follow Abram and Sarai through years of waiting as God renews His covenant and speaks into what age and circumstance have made impossible. This is a story about a promise beyond human strength, the God who is never hurried, and a question that needs no answer!

After the battlefield falls silent, the LORD speaks to Abram in a vision.

Abram sees only his age, Sarai’s barrenness and a promise that appears impossible. God directs his attention beyond those circumstances—to a sky filled with more stars than he could ever count.

As the LORD reveals generations yet to come, human impatience leads Abram and Sarai toward a plan of their own. In the wilderness, an Egyptian slave woman discovers that the God who knows every star also sees her, hears her and calls her by name.
