Gauteng’s Fake Security Certificate Scam Exposed

Fake certificates. Real money lost.

Across Gauteng, people looking for a way into the security industry can be promised a fast certificate, a shortcut to work, or a qualification that sounds legitimate—only to discover later that it cannot be verified when it matters most.

In this episode of Security Guy’d, we unpack the real cost of fraudulent security-training certificates, the warning signs learners should look for before paying, and why proper verification matters for job seekers, employers, and the wider security industry.

We also look at what legitimate training should offer: a clear process, practical confidence, and a qualification that can be checked. Every Wise Guy Academy certificate includes a QR verification code, allowing certificate details to be verified through the Wise Guy Academy website.

Before you pay for security training, ask the right questions. Verify the provider. Verify the certificate. Protect your future.
