Born on the sunny, surf-filled shores of Okinawa with an opera singer for a mother, Japanese singer-songwriter Kiwako Ashimine had a less than normal upbringing, and this shines through in her sound too. A DIY musician who has experimented with genres such as lo-Fi and R&B to folk and dark pop, her clean, piercing vocals have the ability to command the attention of even the largest room.
