After a quick fix from Keith at Yamaha in Britannia Yachting Center (the best in the biz!), we hit Huntington Harbor, the bay, and the Long Island Sound to track water temps and search for early season bunker and bait balls. With temps reading 55° in the harbor, 53° in the bay, and 50° in the Sound, striped bass fishing conditions are just starting to line up.

We spotted 2-3 inch silversides near shore and located scattered bunker pods—signs that the spring striper bite is near! Plus, a surprise full-circle Bay Rats moment while talking with Mike at Compass Rose Marine Supply brought our CLiX Fueling story from the NY Boat Show right back home.

The Yo-Zuri was the clear winner, helping us land and tag quality slot bass before releasing them healthy.

Striped bass fishing in early spring is heating up, with water temps in the harbor between 50-52°F and bay temps at 46°F. As the weather warms, expect even more action in the back bays where these stripers are staging and feeding.
