Bakersfield just got its biggest Goodwill yet — a brand-new, full-service store opening daily from 9 AM to 8 PM at the old Rite Aid spot on Rosedale Highway. They kicked things off with a ribbon-cutting and even donated $2,139 to Flood Ministries right away. Drop-offs are welcome 8 AM to 7 PM, and they’re turning the old smaller location into a used bookstore — smart, community-minded moves that boost both shopping and giving back.

The Fresno Diocese is cutting pensions for church workers as its retirement plan faces a $90 million shortfall — a crisis affecting tens of thousands nationwide. Bishop Brennan warns retirees could see drastically reduced payouts unless the diocese steps in, despite claims the shortfall stems from actuarial calculations, not poor funding. With accounts barely covering obligations, the diocese is now scrambling to adjust the plan to protect future benefits — adding another layer of financial stress after years of abuse-related turmoil.
