Everyone's had one. Most of us have had too many to count.

The boss who clock watched. The one who booked a "quick catch-up" for 5pm on a Friday. The one who described themselves as "a bit of a maverick" and actually meant "I am clinically insane." The one who tried to act like Alan Sugar despite only earning 59p per hour more than you.

Bad Boss on Blast is the comedy podcast where they finally get what's coming to them.

Every fortnight, join hosts and comedy buddies Dan Pountney and Jo Somner as they sit a guest down, and hand them a live microphone. Then after exchanging pleasantries, ask them to do one thing: absolutely eviscerate their worst-ever boss (verbally speaking). No holds barred. No HR in the room, because as angelic as they seemed in your interview, they were never really your friend, were they? HR was a passive aggressive woman called Lorraine and the only thing that got her revved up was the opportunity to put you on a PIP.

It's the exit interview you always wanted but never had.

Jo describes the show as a "Salem bitch trial". Dan has coined it "the spiritual successor to Dave Benson Phillips' Get Your Own Back". Both totally fair. We're dunking on some boss bitches (NOT the good kind) and digitally gunging them for good measure.

A word on the legals. Dan and Jo want, nay, need desperately to keep their houses, so guests are briefed to give their boss a comedy nom de plume and self-edit anything identifiable. Which means the monster in question might be called 00-Naughty Word, or something Dungeons and Dragonsy, or just Bert, and (all being very well!) you will never know who they really are. Unless you worked for them. In which case: our condolences.

If you suspect you may be the boss in question, you are not. Glad we settled that.

Guests are also asked to take us back through their first, worst and Durst jobs... What's a Durst job? You'll have to listen to find out. (Clue: "it was just one of those days"..)

Our guests are comedians, writers, and other brilliant humans of Earth with a truly deranged story or twelve. The bosses they bring range from the incompetent to the nasty piece of work. We're talking bosses who'd have been rejected from The Apprentice boardroom for being too cringe. Bosses who make Malcolm Tucker from The Thick of It look like a mental health first aider. Bosses who, had Robot Wars accepted human contestants, would have been yeeted into the pit by Sir Killalot to the rapturous applause of about eighty nerds, roughly six seconds in while Matilda and Sgt Bash did spiky, flaming laps of celebration.

It's cathartic. It's petty in the best possible way. And it's for anyone who has ever felt the Sunday Scaries descend somewhere around the Antiques Roadshow theme tune and thought: there has to be more to life than this. There is. It's this podcast, and eventually, hopefully, a modest pension and an allotment... But until then you're stuck with us.

If you've got a bad boss, this is your show. If you've survived one, this is your support group. And if you ARE a bad boss - first of all, congrats on making it this far down with no pictures. Secondly: perhaps this is the intervention you've been needing?

New episodes fortnightly. Hit follow, then slide into our DMs @badbossonblast with your own fat paras and voice notes and we will read/ play them.

Launching 1st August 2026. Tell your colleagues. Not Tracey, she'd only dob you in. Tracey is a dobber. Tell the nice ones.

  • Episode 1: Hard Nips & Erotic Animal Parks with Rich Spalding
    2026/07/29

Comedian, writer and unwitting kitten breeder Rich Spalding admits the best day of his working life was directing cars into a field aged ten. Everything since has been bitterly disappointing: bin bags, gravy, and a sixteen year old boss counting his till while he stood there dressed as a sad witch.

Dan and Jo get the full CV. Bon Marché, where he was hired as eye candy for the largely large pensioners and had to ask a manager what a blouse was. A bin bag factory so silent he started composing imaginary albums in his head. A gravy factory he lasted one shift at, quitting to a foreman who said "get out where you can." And a large sanctuary for erotic animals somewhere in Central Europe, where his teenage manager recounted the gift shop takings every night and once informed him he was eight pence short.

Then the boss he actually puts on blast: a comedy promoter, legal name withheld, MI5 codename 00 Cunt, who ghosted him for six months until Rich named him in a Facebook comedy group. Within five minutes the promoter was ringing him on Messenger to scream at him. Rich delivers the verdict in sixty seconds, wrestling promo style, on behalf of himself and the textile workers of this country.

Also featured: Jo's twenty year exile from Gap Cambridge, the correct way to fold a t-shirt without a board, washing machine jingles, and a running nipple report.

    Contains very strong language.
