This week, The Golden Bachelor AU made its official premiere, and we're putting our expertise to good use in pulling apart the first week of the show. Is playing it safe the right move for the producers, or does it feel like more of the same? We analyse the limo exits, first dates, and the woman who at least seems to be getting a slight villain edit (but it's too soon to tell).

If you're wondering if you have to watch the show to listen to the pod - you definitely don't! But we were pleasantly surprised by a lot of things on the TV this week, and you might be too.

The Bachelor of Hearts podcast is back! We've returned to discuss the "new era" of the Bachelor franchise in Australia - The Golden Bachelor, in which 61-year-old widower Barry 'Bear' Myrden will search for love among 20 distinguished women. We set the scene for what promises to be a pretty interesting season of television (on Channel Nine of all places), providing all the necessary context, and sharing everything we can glean about the cast of the show ahead of the premiere. How many of the women are interior designers? Which one is a warrior princess? And which one posted "All Lives Matter" on main? You'll have to tune in to find out.

Also, just a quick update: it looks like Nine will be airing two episodes a week (at least to begin with), on Monday and Tuesday nights. We are relieved.
