Companion episode to Continuing Covenant (Chapter 1)

"And this is the confidence that we have in him,

that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask,

we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him."

I John 5:15

To be clear, the phrase, “whatever we ask,” has a significant condition that must be met as it relates to one's prayer being answered. It is clearly stated that “if we ask anything according to His will; He will hear us.” Still, many of us either miss the significance of this condition or simply choose to ignore it, as if it does not apply to everyone.

Thankfully, this young Christian mother that had just learned she was expecting a third child, believed that the heartfelt and persistent prayer of a believer can produce dynamic results when God is kept in the forefront of her life and that of her unborn son.

Thus, in late October, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy and she began realizing the answer to her prayer. That child she had so faithfully dedicated to God months before his birth began living out what we shall come to recognize as a Continuing Covenant.

One will never be able to anticipate their first encounter with the Holy Spirit of God. To be sure, whenever He has deemed the perfect time to announce His presence in the life of His servant, in whatever circumstances He uses for his platform of entrance; the experience will be one that shall never be forgotten.

Listen as the Great I Am revealed His presence in my life, surrounded by an angry pack of junkyard dogs.

The Word of God teaches that "... all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Rom 8:28).

Do you love God? Are you called according to His purpose?

If so, then all things means some things that might seem extremely heavy crosses to carry. These things might also include God transferring spiritual authority from a parent to an offspring.

Such things will require one to cultivate a relationship with I AM, access to His peace and strength, and a faithful desire to serve Him.

The Holy Spirit was sent to direct God's people in the ways consistent with His will for their lives. In His Omnipotence, God controls all forces on earth and within the universes and will often employ any of them to lead us in ways that we cannot foresee nor deny. Our ultimate responsibility is to recognize His presence in our affairs, then humbly submit to His directives.

This time, it shook me to my core. Again, I experienced, "Give Me your life, and I will make an example of you." It was shockingly upsetting as it resonated all around and through me.

Instantly, a sense of submission fell over me, as I gathered that this was not one of those moments that would simply go away.

Still, I cannot recall any of the associated fears that should have naturally accompanied such an experience.

"Give Me your life," remindS me of the overwhelming sense of Power of God and my undeniable desire to surrender to it.

Nearly every day that I entered my office, I was reminded of Proverbs 18:16. That Word could not have been any truer for me. I can accurately testify that for nearly fifteen years, the Holy Spirit had led me into the counseling field and had given me the awesome gift of transforming His Word into meaningful, applicable solutions for many of my clients’ needs and desires, without them even recognizing the source of my expertise.

What had begun as a small whisper resonating in my spirit, was now actual reality unfolding right in front of my eyes… and even though one may feel led by Holy Spirit to begin a work ,we often fail to stop long enough to pray for directions in making the important decisions that will arise.

In very deliberate fashion the Triune God of Heaven can infuse us with a fresh “faith revival” at the exact time it is needed to empower, equip, and sustain us to accomplish whatever He shall send us out to perform.

Glory to the Most-High God … Hallelujah!

In the safety of the fold, the Shepherd will seek to settle the flock for a time of rest ahead. Now, he will lay himself in the doorway to assure nothing or no one will enter without his notice. This Shepherd has, in effect, become the doorway to his flock and provides the only passage in or out.

Each morning, He will go out before them, call them by name, and they will follow him wheresoever he leads.
