Jyoti Ma is someone I was guided to years ago — sitting at my tree, in tears, asking for direction — when my tree told me to go inside and Google “grandmother wisdom keepers.” She was the first answer that came up. And everything that has unfolded in my life since then traces back to that moment.

She is the Grandmother Vision Keeper for the Center for Sacred Studies in Northern California. She’s the co-founder of the Fountain, which builds bridges between Indigenous-led alliances and the protection of traditional medicine ways. She was largely responsible for the convening of the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. She has a global intentional spiritual community called Kayumari that is almost 40 years old. She has been a student, a seer, and a servant of Mother Earth for her entire life.

And she is 79 years old and still going strong.

She also says something in this conversation that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. That the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers wasn’t just a gathering of elders; it was a catalyst seed to awakening the grandmother archetype that lives in every one of us. That wise elder inside you. She says it’s time for her to wake up now.

This one healed my soul. I think it might do the same for you.

3 Things You’ll Take Away:

1. The world is in an ending cycle. Jyoti Ma frames what we’re living through with such clarity and steadiness that you’ll feel your nervous system actually settle. This reframe alone is worth the listen.
2. The hardest journey is from the mind to the heart. When the mind drops into the heart, everything changes. How we think, how we walk, how we relate to each other and to life itself. This episode is an invitation into that journey and it makes it feel possible.
3. You’re already in elder training. If you’re in your 50s and feeling the call to teach, to lead, to share what you know while also feeling unqualified, your’re not alone. Jyoti Ma speaks directly to this.
