Kristina entered aviation with no family connections and no childhood plan to become a pilot. At 19, she walked into a flight school, discovered helicopter training could cost roughly $100,000, and eventually chose an unconventional route: four years in the Army, the GI Bill, and a Part 141 university program that allowed her to begin her civilian flying career without student debt. Today, with roughly 2,000 hours and 1,000 hours of turbine experience flying tours and charter operations in Las Vegas, she's reached another major decision point: What comes next?

That question opens a much larger discussion about the economics of being a professional pilot.
