I’m your host, documentary filmmaker and author, Sara Hirsh Bordo. For the last 12 years, I’ve been telling the real stories of women and girls. I’m also an autoimmune diagnosed lifelong recovering good girl and a recovering self-compromising eldest daughter with Hashimoto's.

In writing and researching for my book and my own national research across 1,000 other autoimmune diagnosed American women, I was lucky enough to sit down with an incredible group of experts spanning from science to soul, across medicine and modalities.

This podcast is a sneak peek, ahead of the book's official release, into this research and these powerful stories. It offers so many gems of wisdom, so many slips of permission, that are in service of you now.

For the first time, I’m coming out from behind the camera and the story I’m telling is mine. The story of what being raised to be a good girl can do to our health as women.

We are not here to stay the same. We are here to transform, to heal and to rise.

“Sara Hirsh Bordo combines deeply suffered but ultimately triumphant personal history with the irrefutable science of mind-body unity to show that disease can arise from being too good for one’s own good—and be overcome by reclaiming power and agency. This illuminating volume will liberate many women from self-suppression and its frequent consequence, physical illness.”

    2026/05/19

Have you spent so much of your life caring for everyone else that you’ve forgotten how to hear yourself?

What if your body wasn’t betraying you? But it was trying to speak to you.

This week’s episode features Heather Ensworth, an Amazon bestselling author, clinical psychologist with over 30 years experience, astrologer and shamanic practitioner.

Heater is so intentionally committed to exploring and teaching ancient wisdom and healing practices.

I first learned of her when I discovered her through a YouTube video on her incredibly loyal channel. Heather weaves ancient teachings into today’s insights in a way that is so incredibly rare. We spoke for hours, but for now, here are a few moments for you to savor.

    • Reclaiming archetypal mother energy and active feminine power
    • The importance of nature, sacred circles and cultural myths in healing
    • Shamanic and spiritual perspectives on bodily messages and self-integration
    • How the body acts as a messenger when out of balance and how to reframe its signals
    • The significance of coherence and integration in healing trauma and illness

  • 6. Reconnecting with Spirit and Your Intuition on Your Path to Healing with Stacie Codino, NLC-P, EP
    2026/05/05

Have you ever felt like your body is working against you instead of for you?

Do you struggle to trust your intuition—or wonder if you even have access to it?

In this deeply expansive conversation, I chat with Stacie Codino, Angelic Shamanic Practitioner, NLC-P, EP, with a specialization in Spiritual Connection through Natural Lifemanship. Together, we explore the soul-level lens of autoimmune illness and what it’s here to teach us.

We unpack the hidden ways resistance, victimization and conditioning keep us stuck and how shifting into trust, intention and self-permission can begin to open pathways toward healing.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • The spiritual dimension of autoimmune illness and healing
    • Overcoming resistance and victim mentality for health transformation
    • Connecting with intuition and inner power during health challenges
    • Societal roots of "good girl" conditioning and its impact on wellbeing
    • Breaking ancestral and patriarchal patterns
    • How to recognize relief signals from your body as guidance
    • Tools and frameworks for cultivating self-trust and spiritual connection

This episode invites you to consider a new possibility: That your body isn’t betraying you, it’s communicating with you. It invites women to step into their power and trust their body's messages as a vital part of their autoimmunity journey.
