A SpaceX employee in Del Valle, Texas, was stabbed in the throat during a karaoke night at a local bar after a tense confrontation with another coworker, Gonzalez, who allegedly threatened to kill him before pulling out a pocketknife. The victim, who was singing and socializing, was left critically injured with swelling blocking his airway — but authorities swiftly located and arrested Gonzalez after a helicopter spotted him fleeing into a nearby field. Despite not speaking to detectives, Gonzalez reportedly apologized repeatedly. The incident, which began as a casual team-building outing, turned deadly in seconds.

Southbound I-35 lanes between Stassney and Slaughter Lanes in Austin are CLOSED Friday night through Saturday morning for critical work on the Capital Expressway South Project — a $548M upgrade adding elevated managed lanes to ease traffic. Drivers must exit at William Cannon Drive, use the frontage road, and re-enter via the next ramp. Expect delays — but this temporary headache is paving the way for smoother commutes by late 2028.

Fall’s officially here, but the heat won’t quit—temps are already flirting with 90s and could hit 100 degrees with mostly clear skies. Weekend’s no cooler either, with highs climbing into the low hundreds and just a whisper of rain chance on Sunday. Stay hydrated and crank that AC, because summer’s clinging on for a scorcher of a late-season heatwave.

Texas just took a giant leap toward financial independence as the Texas Stock Exchange welcomes its first-ever primary listings — two flagship ETFs from Texas Capital. The Texas Equity Index ETF and Texas Oil Index ETF, both launched last year, are now officially trading on this Dallas-based platform, marking a historic shift away from Wall Street dominance. For investors, nothing changes — same apps, same trades — but for the exchange, it’s a major credibility boost. While some applaud this early confidence, others wait to see if truly independent companies will follow. The real test? Can the exchange lure businesses that care only about market strength — not local ownership?
