  • We Lost Our Mom, Then Played Our Biggest Tour Ever | The Reklaws
    2026/10/13

The Reklaws lost their mom 4 years ago, then walked down the aisle a month later and played their biggest summer tour anyway. Jenna and Stuart sit down with Matt August on the eve of the Okanagan Dream Rally to get real about grief, fame, and why you should never sweep it under the rug.

From Stuart hearing their song on the radio for the first time while stuck at the bottom of a pool, to labels telling them a brother-sister party band was impossible, to the America's Got Talent song for their mom that blew up around the world, this one hits hard. Plus, what it means to headline the stage they grew up watching from the $15 lawn seats.

  • The Brutal Truth About Why Canada's Forests Keep Burning
    2026/10/01

In this episode of August After Dark, Matt August sits down with Murray Wilson, a retired professional forester turned filmmaker, whose documentary BC Is Burning is pulling back the curtain on what's actually happening inside our forests.

Murray spent decades on the front lines — from a helitack crew in 1977 to managing BC's forests as a professional forester — and he's watched the system quietly fail.

In 2023 alone, Canada emitted 2.4 billion tons of CO2 from wildfires, making wildfire smoke our single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. The smoke in the Okanagan that summer was the equivalent of every person — kids included — smoking 7 to 15 cigarettes a day.

In this conversation, Murray breaks down why decades of reduced forest management, mountain pine beetle outbreaks, and policy gridlock have turned BC's forests into a tinderbox — and why "just letting nature take its course" is actually making things far more dangerous. They dig into the economics (we spend $1.3 billion a year fighting fires but the true cost to our economy is 10-20x that), the carbon release hiding in our forest soils, why Canada stopped prescribed burning, and what BC could learn from California and Finland to actually fix this before it's too late.

This is the conversation nobody in government wants to have — and the one every Canadian needs to hear.

  • 87 Year Old Reveals Everything He Knows About Success
    2026/09/25

87 years old, built and sold companies worth hundreds of millions, once owned a 42-car collection, and he's still not slowing down.

In this episode of August After Dark, host Matt August sits down with Peter Thomas — author, entrepreneur, and creator of "One Minute Mentor" — for a raw conversation about what it actually takes to build a life you're proud of.

Peter shares the story of buying his first car in the Canadian Army with the help of a sergeant who vouched for him, why he bought the Century 21 Canada franchise rights when every person in his life told him not to, and how that one decision turned into tens of millions of dollars. He breaks down his "superpower vs. kryptonite" framework, the exact sales discipline that took him from broke to successful, and why mentorship isn't the same as coaching.

You'll also hear about his 7-year sabbatical to Switzerland, how he uses fractional airplane deals to fund his love of aviation, 40 years of marriage advice, and why giving back has become the core value driving his life today.

If you want a real, unfiltered conversation with someone who has lived an extraordinary life and has zero interest in slowing down — this is it.
