At the Table of Jesus: Dinner with the Enemy

A Pharisee invited Jesus to dinner not out of genuine welcome, but to evaluate and trap Him. Jesus saw through the invitation immediately and responded not with small talk, but with bold, direct truth. He exposed the gap between religious performance and genuine heart transformation, calling out pride, selective obedience, and spiritual abuse. When Jesus shows up at our table, He does not simply bless the food and stay quiet. He sits with us in the places we hide, the burdens we carry, and the truths we avoid. His confrontation is never meant to shame us but to free us. The same Jesus who sat with His enemies, knowing the cost, is the same Jesus who sits with us today, ready to speak truth and restore what is broken.
