The Houston Astros finished 81-81 and were swept by the White Sox in the Wild Card round. With injuries to Cristian Javier, Luis Castillo, and Brice Matthews, the team faces critical roster decisions. Analysts break down the outfield competition involving Daulton Varsho, Nelson Velazquez, and Joey Loperfido.

Key battles include the bullpen hierarchy with Josh Hader and Bryan Abreu, and the starting rotation needing a number two starter behind Hunter Brown. Manager Joe Espada wants to return, but requires veteran pitching depth to compete in 2027.

Predictions include Yainer Diaz locking in as the primary catcher, LaMonte Wade Jr. being the odd man out in left field, and potential trades for Steven Okert. The Astros must streamline their 40-man roster to build a playoff-contending team.
