It's a brand new Asian A.V. Club HANG! podcast and we've got a fun one in the form of Co-Creator / Showrunner Vivian Lin of the hit Netflix YA series Crew Girl.

Starring Miku Martineau as Teagan Tao, Crew Girl tells the soapy story of a teenage rower who is forced to start over at a fancy prep school and discovers that the only way to maintain her proximity to rowing is to become the coxswain for the all-boys crew.

Between gaining the trust and respect of her rowdy teammates, Teagan also has to deal with her growing feelings towards two very different boys; the popular rich kid Josh Regis (Sam Braun) and local townie Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark). A love triangle ensues but rowing is still the heart and soul that runs through this bingeable series.

We got some time to HANG! with Vivian as she walks us through her early days in production, what led to writing, the importance of the cult sci-fi series Killjoy in her life and the difficulties of creating a show from scratch. We rarely get the chance to talk to a showrunner of a series, so forgive me if we are nerding out! OH! and let's just say this is part one of our Crew Girl interviews!
