Welcome back to the Asian A.V. Club interview podcast HANG! To be very honest with you, we here at Asian A.V. Club aren't aficionados of animation, let alone ones geared towards adults, but when we heard that Dang! was created by writer/showrunner (and lead voice) Andrew Law, we were curious.

Law has had an amazing career prior to his work on Dang! Besides getting his first job as a staff writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers, he found himself the executive story editor for The Good Place, and eventually the co-executive producer for shows like The Brothers Sun and Hacks. Dang! marks Law's first foray at the top of the leaderboard.

Following the lives of siblings Andrew (voiced by Andrew Law) and Eunice (Poppy Liu), the Dang family dynamic gets even more chaotic when type A big sister Ruthie (Stephanie Hsu) shows up pregnant and needing some familial emotional support... which the two are less than equipped to help with.

We got to HANG with Andrew to talk about how sketch comedy led to his career as a writer, how Dang! was initially pitched as a live action sitcom and the joys of predominantly Asian spaces where most of the people felt open enough to talk about fetish dating and dealing with their mental health.
