Despite this, one Carolina (North Carolina) has become the DOMINANT Carolina, leaving the other (South Carolina) as a relatively forgotten state. But while this might make sense today, it wasn't all that long ago that South Carolina was actually the wealthier, larger and more important Carolina. So what happened and why does North Carolina have so many more people than South Carolina?
