What happens when the practice that's supposed to support you becomes one more thing you feel like you have to get right?
This month, we're talking all about rituals and how they can help us do big things without losing ourselves. But if you're anything like me, you might hear about a meaningful practice, immediately turn it into a system, and then start measuring yourself against how well you're doing it. Suddenly, the thing that was supposed to help you feel grounded becomes another place where you feel behind.
So in this episode, we're busting some of the biggest myths about rituals.
Do rituals have to be religious? Elaborate? Performed consistently? Do they actually improve performance? And if you miss your ritual, have you somehow ruined it?
We're digging into what research actually tells us about rituals, why a meaningful ritual should remain flexible and chosen, and how to tell when a supportive practice is starting to become another demand. I'm also sharing one of my favorite approaches for making rituals work in real life: creating one-minute, five-minute, and 30-minute versions so your ritual can flex with you when life gets messy.
Because your ritual is not a streak. It's not a moral test. And its value doesn't depend on whether it makes you more productive.
Sometimes a ritual helps you focus. Sometimes it marks an ending. Sometimes it helps you celebrate, grieve, rest, or simply notice your life while you're living it.
So here's the question I want you to carry with you:
Is this ritual supporting you?
