    2026/09/17

What is the true you — and where has it been this whole time? Rabbi Ari Klapper closes the sefer Shabbos Malkesa with a final and deeply personal teaching. The journey began on Rosh Hashanah 5784, when the first day fell on Shabbos and there was no shofar deraisa — a frightening situation, because the shofar is a tremendous source of protection for Klal Yisrael. The response: strengthen Shabbos, because the zechus of Shabbos can stand where the shofar can't. And then Simchas Torah of that year became October 7th. The sefer that started as a spiritual initiative became something far more urgent. And now, this coming Rosh Hashanah 5787, the first day falls on Shabbos again — and the sefer is finishing right on time.

The closing teaching carries the full weight of everything learned: Moshe Rabbeinu had rays of light shining from his face — but that light wasn't uniquely his. Every Jew carries that same light inside their neshama. The body covers it, the week buries it, the noise of life dims it. But it's always there. Before the Egel HaZahav, Klal Yisrael could stand in the presence of the Shechina and still eat and drink — the light didn't overwhelm them. After the Egel, even the reflected light of Moshe's face was more than they could bear. That's the power of chet — and in reverse, that's the power of Shabbos. Shabbos is the day the body stops being a barrier. The neshama can surface. The light can shine. Practical takeaway: this Shabbos, find a quiet moment and notice: "Right now, nothing is required of me." Let that be who you are. That's the true you.

  • Ep. 107 – The Root and Source of Everything
    2026/09/10

If everything about Shabbos — the rest, the kedushah, the connection to Hashem — can seemingly be found in other places too (the Beis HaMikdash, Yom Tov, Torah learning), what makes Shabbos uniquely irreplaceable? Rabbi Ari Klapper takes on this question in the grand summary of Shabbos Malkesa, and the answer turns everything inside out. The secret of Shabbos isn't a list of special features — it's that Shabbos has nothing of itself. Just like a pure mirror has nothing of itself, only the reflection of what stands before it. And the purer the mirror, the harder it is to even see the mirror — all you see is Hashem.

Shabbos does something no other day, place, or practice does: it gives from both directions at once. It's Makor HaShefa flowing downward and the perfect receptacle drawing that shefa in — Zohar and Shomor, Mashpia and Mekabel, simultaneously. Moshe Rabbeinu was the human parallel: Anav Mikol Adam, nothing of himself, perfectly transparent to Hashem's word. The Torah came through him precisely because there was no "him" getting in the way. And that's what Shabbos is in time. Every other sacred thing participates in the kedushah of Shabbos. Shabbos is the root. Practical takeaway: this Shabbos, find one moment — even thirty seconds — where you do nothing, say nothing, think nothing about yourself. Just be in front of Hashem.

  • Ep. 106 – POF 13: Hashem Wants Your Body Too
    2026/09/03

What happens to a Jew's connection to Hashem after they die — is it over? Rabbi Ari Klapper explores the 13th and final principle of faith: Techiyas HaMeisim, the resurrection of the dead. He builds it straight from the bris: Hashem made a covenant not just with the nation as an abstract entity, but with every individual Jew. And a bris with the Infinite doesn't expire when the body does. He quotes a striking tradition in the name of Rav Moshe Wolfson: even the most disconnected Jew — even after 50,000 Yovlos in Gehenna — will eventually reconnect, because the link between a Jewish soul and Hashem can never be fully severed. The name "Yehudi" itself contains Hashem's name; being Jewish means you are permanently a citizen of Hashem's nation.

Kares — being spiritually "cut off" — is the most severe punishment the Torah describes. But even kares is about disconnection in this world, not final erasure. The bris goes on. Techiyas HaMeisim is the ultimate expression of that: Hashem wants to give us a body back, because the body matters. We learned throughout this sefer that Hashem doesn't want us to escape the physical — He wants to elevate it. The resurrection isn't just a miracle; it's the proof that the covenant between Hashem and each individual Jew is eternal and complete. Practical takeaway: today, do one physical mitzvah with full kavana — eating, speaking, walking — and say: "Hashem wants this body too. I'm giving it to Him."
