Apex Dad is a podcast for men who want to be better fathers without becoming soft, burnt out, or invisible in the process. Modern fatherhood is hard. You’re expected to be present, patient, productive, fit, emotionally intelligent, and financially stable — all while keeping your marriage strong and your sanity intact. This podcast is about strength, responsibility, leadership, and self-respect in the second half of life. No fluff. No motivational shouting. No perfect gurus. Just honest conversations about fitness, identity, work, relationships, and fatherhood — from a man in the middle of it himself.Copyright 2026 Kevin Boyle 人間関係 個人的成功 子育て 自己啓発 衛生・健康的な生活

Why do you quit your diet, your training and your goals? It's not willpower and it's not a slow metabolism. It's the fear of boredom. In this video I break down the psychology of discipline for dads over 40. How constant stimulation, dopamine and your phone kill consistency. Why fat loss, habits and projects die in the middle. And how learning to tolerate boredom builds the self control you need to lose weight, get strong and stay consistent after 40.

In 2014 researchers at the University of Virginia left people alone in an empty room for 15 minutes. There was one button in the room and it gave an electric shock. Two thirds of the men pressed it. We would rather hurt ourselves than sit with our own thoughts.

We've swapped the old struggle of hunger for a new one. An aversion to silence. When the noise stops the brain panics and you reach for a distraction. A snack. Your phone. Another video. That's where most dads fall off. Not because they're weak. Because they never learned to sit in the empty space where the progress actually happens.

Boredom isn't the enemy. It's a signal. Stop drugging it with content and start using it.

    In this video:

▶ Why willpower isn't your problem

▶ The 15 minute electric shock study

▶ Why fat loss stalls in the middle

▶ How to use boredom to build real discipline

I've helped dads aged 35 to 55 lose fat, build strength and rebuild who they are.

Subscribe for weekly breakdowns on the psychology of discipline, fat loss and strength for dads over 40.

  • You don't have a belly fat problem. You have a drinking problem.

Alcohol and belly fat: the real reason men over 40 can't lose weight. If you're a dad over 40 trying to lose belly fat, the weekend beers matter more than your diet — and nobody in the fitness industry will say it. In this video I break down why alcohol is the hidden lever behind stubborn belly fat for men in their 40s.

Not the macros-and-metabolism science lecture you've seen a hundred times — this is about what drinking actually means to you: the wind-down beers, the "I barely drink" story, the weekends that quietly undo the week. You don't need another diet.

You need to be honest about the one habit you've decided is off the table. You'll learn: Why moderate drinking hits fat loss harder after 40, why "I earned it" is the most expensive sentence in your week, and what actually changes when the drink stops being automatic.

  • How Penn Jillette lost 100+ lbs (it's not what you think).

Penn Jillette's potato diet for fat loss, Kevin Smith's heart attack, and Jelly Roll's weight loss all used the same psychology. Here's how men over 40 can fix their relationship with food and lose weight for good. In this video I break down the psychology behind Penn Jillette's potato diet, Kevin Smith's weight loss after his heart attack, and Jelly Roll's "make your own fries" hack - and why changing your relationship with food comes BEFORE changing your body.

If you're a man over 40, especially a dad, this is the switch every diet you've tried has left untouched: pattern interrupts, taste recalibration, bright-line rules, and how to fire food from its second job as your coping mechanism. This is sustainable weight loss for men over 40 — no extreme diets required. Steal the psychology, not the protocol. Note: Penn Jillette did his reset with medical oversight.

Talk to your doctor before any restrictive diet - this video is about the psychology, not a meal plan.

No BS fitness advice for dads. New videos every Thursday.
