What if the reason you haven’t tested something is because you recognize it?
You know the family. You know the name. You remember the songs, the crusades, the voices—and maybe some of those ministries are connected to memories you deeply cherish.
But familiarity is not the same thing as truth.
This Friday on The Myrrhologist Podcast, Marissa Saint Luc announces a new episode:
THE CON TRAP FAMILY: When Nostalgia Blinds Discernment
Some seeds have been in the ground long enough for us to stop reminiscing about when they were planted and start examining what is growing in the garden today.
What fruit is hanging from the tree? Do the leaders we trust meet the biblical standards for ministry? And have nostalgia, loyalty, and familiarity made us reluctant to test what we were taught?
Before we follow the Von Trapp family into the hills…
we better make sure we’re not following the CON TRAP FAMILY.
Open your Bible. Examine the fruit. Test the teaching.
Sometimes error doesn’t feel foreign. Sometimes it feels exactly like something you grew up with.
