  • Should parents still be forcing teenagers to attend family gatherings they don't want to attend?
    2026/09/23

It’s a Saturday afternoon, and the family has a big lunch, birthday or family gathering planned. Everyone is expected to be there… except the teenager who suddenly has “plans,” doesn’t feel like going, or would rather stay home.

The parent says, “Absolutely not. You’re coming with us.” The teenager says, “But why must I go somewhere I don’t even want to be?”

At what point do parents stop forcing teenagers to attend every family gathering and start respecting that they’re old enough to have their own social lives and make some of their own choices? Should parents still be forcing teenagers to attend family gatherings they don’t want to attend?

  • Would you travel out of South Africa for cheaper healthcare somewhere else?
    2026/10/14

There’s growing chatter that some travellers (especially Americans) are booking cruises partly because the onboard medical centres or ports of call offer cheaper doctor visits, dental work or basic procedures than they can get at home.

Medical travel (also called medical tourism) is when people travel to another country specifically for cheaper or faster treatment. Some are even using cruise holidays for basic check-ups or dental work in the ports.

In the United States a routine dental check-up can cost you three or four times what it costs in South Africa. A simple tooth filling that sets an American back thousands of rands can be done for a fraction of that price in India or Thailand. Even something as basic as a doctor’s visit or getting a broken bone treated shows huge gaps once you start comparing countries.

  • Masked Singer Season 3: Khanyi Mbau and Judith Sephuma in studio
    2026/09/29

Khanyi Mbau and Judith Sephuma made it all the way to the Season 3 finale of The Masked Singer SA, leaving Mzansi guessing right until the final reveal.

Khanyi had viewers trying to connect the clues to the woman behind Chopsticks, while the detectives came up with names ranging from Nandi Madida to the eventual correct guess, Khanyi Mbau. Judith Sephuma, meanwhile, kept everyone guessing as Gogga, with J’Something and Somizi eventually locking in her identity.

In the end, both stars were unmasked during the Season 3 finale, with Khanyi finishing third and Judith fourth. After weeks of performances, clues and wild detective theories, their identities were finally revealed.

Catch The Masked Singer SA Season 3 on Netflix.

  • Your child tells you their teacher is crying at school almost every day. Do you contact the teacher?
    2026/09/28

Your child comes home and casually tells you, “My teacher cries almost every day.” Now what? Do you pick up the phone and check in with the teacher because that doesn’t sound right?

Or do you stay out of it because you don’t know what’s happening in that classroom and your child might only be seeing one small part of the story? At what point does a parent go from “That’s concerning” to “I need to contact the school”?

  • What stokvel are you apart of and how did it go?
    2026/10/15

Stokvels are a big part of how South Africans save, invest and make sure there’s money for December groceries, school fees or that annual getaway. But when you’re putting your hard-earned money into a group with family, friends, neighbours or colleagues, you’re also putting a lot of trust in people.

So, what stokvel are you part of, and how does yours work? Is it a grocery stokvel, a savings club, an investment group or one where everyone contributes towards a big December payout? And more importantly, has it ever gone wrong?

Maybe the treasurer disappeared with the money, someone stopped contributing but still expected their payout, a member died before their turn came around, or the group fell apart over how the money was spent. Perhaps someone borrowed from the stokvel and never paid it back and now the whole group is paying the price.

Have you ever had a stokvel experience that went horribly wrong? How did you handle it, and did the money or the friendships ever recover?

  • Masked Singer Season 3: Bontle Modiselle crowned the winner as Spotty the dog
    2026/09/28

Our rockstar of the season, Spotty came in with fire, energy and dance moves that had us captivated. We kept falling in love with her every week on The Masked Singer season 3.

The detectives along the way told their own story. J'Something had been thinking it was Pabi Moloi the whole time, but the dance moves made him consider another entertainer like piano sensation, Boohle. Somizi had his own "ah-ha" moment, when he saw Spotty’s performance with Robot Boii and he locked in his guess with Bontle Modiselle.

Sithelo went with actress Vathiswa Ndara, while Skhumba dropped the name Motshidisi Mohono, the sports anchor. In the end, it was Somizi who called it right. Bontle Modiselle was Spotty all along!

Mzansi's beloved choreographer and now the winner of The Masked Singer SA, Season 3!

Catch her performance and reveal again on Thursdays at 21:00 on SABC 1, and Fridays at 13:30 on SABC 2. Subscribe and be a part of Season 3. Every Saturday at 19:00, only on SABC 2.

  • We are chatting Love & Lobola and new book with chef Neo Nontso
    2026/09/30

Her new book, Love & Lobola, tells the story of modern African romance through recipes, rituals, family, marriage and the meals that become part of our biggest life moments.

It’s inspired by her own journey from becoming a wife to preparing to become a mother and brings together more than 80 recipes, from traditional favourites to more contemporary dishes.

And because food and love are basically inseparable in South African families, there’s plenty to talk about: cooking for your partner, meeting the in-laws, feeding people during lobola celebrations, the pressure to impress with food, and whether you can really claim to love someone if you can’t cook for them!

Chef Neo Nontso joins us to talk about Love & Lobola, the stories behind the recipes and how food has become such a big part of our love stories and our culture.

  • Is it rude to stand/sing at a seated concert?
    2026/10/01

There’s a big difference between singing along at a massive stadium concert and sitting in a theatre watching a live performance. At a stadium, everyone is shouting the lyrics, dancing and getting involved. But in a theatre, where you’re sitting close to the stage and surrounded by people who paid to hear the performers, should you keep your singing to yourself?

If you know every word, are you allowed to sing along because you’re enjoying yourself? Or does your enjoyment stop when it starts affecting the people sitting around you?
